Dear Mr and Mrs Dunn and Family- Approximately 4 years ago we had to drop our daughter Ayanna (youngest of 4 children and the only daughter) off at Utica College (4 hours 26 minutes and 17 seconds away from home in Norton,Massachusetts). As we were bringing in Ayanna’s “stuff”- a young, cute polite young man and football player asked us if we needed help…we of course said yes. It was your sweet son Matthew. I have to say when we left Ayanna for her new adventure in life-I thought wow , Utica has some nice and polite boys here. During her studies at UC we took a few drives to UC to see the boys play football ( T O, Jensen and Matt). Although you don’t know us I had to tell you our thoughts.I am so sorry and sad for your unbelievable heartache . I pray that the calming peace angels surround you all always. Sincerely, Anna M Precourt
Matty Boy we love you like our own. We will never forget yo.
I am so sorry ! My thoughts and prays are with u and your family
Tommy and Laurie, Connie and I were sorry beyond words to hear about Matt’s passing. We know how proud you were of his accomplishments and the bright future he had ahead of him. I hope these words offer you some comfort; Say not in grief he is no more – but live in thankfulness that he was. God Bless Matt. Sincerely, Steven and Connie Sadowsky

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dunn and family, My deepest sympathy to you all. Matt was a good friend to my son Jerrod (#84) at Utica college. I had the pleasure of getting to know Matt thru my son and the football games. Matt was a very sweet young man and will surely be missed by many. May you take some comfort in knowing that his kindness touched many lives. Sincerely, Nancy Clowes
We are so sorry to hear about Matt. I will always remember the grit and determination Dunny played baseball with when he was on the L.I. Phillies. He was a fine young man.
I am Jeremy Meier’s Mom we watched Matt grow over the last 4 years in football and life. We went to the all star game and watched the boys play and got pizza and beer in their hotel room for them. I saw him at the riggie dinner and he was always polite and gave me a hug. He will be truly missed. Sincere condolence’s to all who knew and loved him.
It is difficult to find the right words because there are none. Our hearts go out to you and your family, may your heart and soul find peace & comfort. Matt will remain in our hearts forever and not be forgotten….. The DeRosa Family
Mr. and Mrs. Dunn, Please know our prayers are with you and your family. We have been a part of the UC football family for the past two years. We had the pleasure of watching Matt’s success on and off the field. He was a wonderful young man and will be greatly missed. The impact he made on his team mates and friends will never be forgotten. God Bless.
To the entire Dunn family. We cannot begin to comprehend how you are all feeling right now. To lose such a fine young man at such a young age defies reason. We hope that your knowing how much he will be missed by all who knew him, will help you through this difficult time. Thom, Margie, Brent, Kevin and Craig
Matt we only knew you 4 years, but you made a deep impression on our family. Who would have known that you played against Andrew when he played in the Long Island League for the summer back in High School. Then years later the two of you were teamates at Utica College playing football. You were a “Great” football player but more importantly a kind and respectfully young man. We enjoyed your company when you came and spent time with us and our family after home games. You are a true gentlemen and will deeply be missed. The Benkwitt Family
Matt started dating my daughter Meghan early in 2012, I had the honor & pleasure in meeting Matt in early March. We all went to lunch, & from the moment we were introduced, it seemed so easy to talk to Matt, like he just instantly fit into our family. I loved the fact that he did not appear to be nervous at all (sometimes it can be stressful meeting the parents …so I’m told) After lunch, of course, Meghan needed something from Walmart, Matt with the twinkle in his eye, made some kind of joke in the cosmetic section, that only he could get away with…From the start, I was impressed by how polite he was, how easy he was to talk to, & how obvious it was how much he cared for Meghan. He looked at her like he adored her. To watch them interact, laugh about silly things, & talk forever about anything, I knew that they had something truly special. From day one, Matt was welcomed into our family. When I think of him, I think of a gentle giant. He will be greatly missed, but I know, that he is now in heaven as one of God’s Angels, watching over Meghan. We love you Matt…

Matt, you left an indelible mark on everyone you worked with here at the Harp. You will be missed and remembered. To Matt’s Family, Matt is the kind of young man I want my 12 year son to grow up to be, Matt was a great friend who always left me with a smile and feeling better about life just because I saw him, Matt left the world better than he found it and We were lucky to share in his life. Matthew “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand”…
Your ability to make me smile through thick and thin was just a glimpse into the amazing heart you had. As much as I kick and fought, I would do ANYTHING to be back at the beach with you all those times where you carried me and threw me into the waves against my will (lol). I am blessed to have known you since our brothers played football together when we were little, and you will always hold a special place in my heart. Heaven is lucky to have such a beautiful angel. Give my brother a hug for me <3 I'll miss you everyday. Love you Matty!

Matt, you are the most amazing person I have ever met. You are my one & only true love. You will always be with me & I anticipate the day you open the gates for me & we are together again. Love,Meghan
I knew you just well enough to know you were a decent, honest and respectful young man. Whenever I saw you, you always acknowledged me with a grin and a nod. I loved to watch you play ball…intense, hard-nosed, but clean, like the rest of your boys. I’ll always remember you Matt – you were a real “top of the morning” type young man. God bless you.
A candle lit in your memory. A memory that will be treasured forever. May your beautiful soul shine down on all those who love you. I’m sure you and Kevin are already tossing the ball around. Rest peacefully Sweet Angel.
