Josephine T. Hennin
March 24, 1928 ~ November 19, 2021
Josephine T. Hennin, of Ridge, New York, Josephine was born on March 24, 1928 in Brooklyn NY to Olga Sadoletti Novellino and Rocco James Novellino. She was one of six children (Vincenza, Lucy, Concetta, Rocco and Dolores) all of who predeceased her except for her youngest sister, Dolores.
She was married to Roger E. Hennin for 59 years at the time of his death on May 13, 2013. Josephine passed away peacefully on November 19, 2021 at the age of 93 years surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her eldest son, Roger Hennin and wife Margaret Hennin predeceased her in 1994 and 2019. She is survived by her son Keith Hennin and wife Elena, her son Chris Hennin and his partner Michael Larkins, her daughter, Joanne Hennin Cavaretta. Her grandchildren: Samantha and husband, Matt, Keith Jr. and wife, Emily, Justin, Heidi, Rachel and wife, Stella, Jason and wife, Jill, Daniel, Samantha and husband, Isaac, Alana, Kyle, Victoria. Great Grandchildren: Audrey, Alia and Isabelle.
Josephine and Roger both attended Franklin K. Lane High School but did not know each other. They officially met later on a blind date at the beach and the rest is history. They were married on May 12, 1956.
She worked for the NY Telephone Company but resigned to raise her children and take care of her family. Once her children were grown, she went back to work for Scatturo’s Market for 29 years and retired at the age of 78 years.
Josephine and Roger were devoted church goers and Eucharistic Ministers at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Woodhaven, NY. They administered the Eucharist to the sick and elderly for many years.
After her husband passed away in 2013, she moved to Ridge where she lived with her daughter, Joanne, grandson, Daniel and dog, Kayla. She broke her hip and a year later developed Alzheimer’s. The last few years were rather difficult in terms of recognizing things and her memory was failing but through it all she maintained her lovable disposition and beautiful soul.
Josephine loved the color blue, Stella D’oro Margherite cookies, going to church, saying her rosary and praying for family. She loved to knit and watch old musicals. She liked to listen to big band music. Josephine loved Italian food and it had to be HOT!
Josephine’s family was her pride and joy and there was nothing she would not do for them. She never had a harsh word to say to anyone. Her absence will be greatly felt but she will remain in our hearts forever.
