John D. Lacey
September 11, 1937 ~ January 9, 2024
John D Lacey, 86, of Ridge & Rocky Point, NY peacefully passed at home on 1/9/2024 surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his loving wife Barbara (2001), John was the proud father of daughter Joanne & Greg Passannante, their boys Vincent, Matthew, and Dominic, Son Andrew Lacey, his sons Jack and Noah, Son Scott Lacey, his children Claire, Lucas & Nico. He loved his sister Sally (2013), her husband Harold Fortier (2014), and their sons Michael & David. John was a Catholic School graduate from Mineola who always kept God close to his heart. A Veteran, he served as US Army MP Co B 728th in Korea, 1959-1962. He met his beautiful Barbara at their NY Telephone Christmas party. They married and bought their brand new home in Rocky Point, where they began their family, along with their dog Daisy. John was a wonderful father, playing with his kids and always working around their home. He provided all Barbara & the kids could ever need. Much time was spent at the Tides beach with family and friends, swimming, fishing, sailing, eating and partying. He never said no to any of Barbara's family adventures and trips, both home and abroad. John was an active member of his community, being involved in the Tides Beach Assn, Rocky Point Civics Assn, Knights of Columbus, St Anthony's church, Leisure Knoll Entertainment Committee and more. When Barbara suffered from breast cancer, John showed us all how a loving partner cares for their spouse. Their love was strong & deep, even after he lost her favorite jewelry for 12 years!! They were thrilled to become grandparents. After Barbara passed, John promised her he would do all he could for his family. He learned to change diapers and could get any cranky baby to sleep. He loved his grandkids to no end. He also loved his '52 Olds 88 and '70 Cutlass Supreme. He enjoyed being part of the East End Olds Club and going to car shows. He taught his children to love life, always take the backroads, and never stop exploring. Oh, and that there is nothing that can't be fixed with tie wraps and electrical tape. Please join John's family at Rocky Point Funeral Home on Sunday January 15, 2024, 2-4pm and 7-9pm for viewing and celebration of John's life. On Monday, January 15 at 9:30am, there will be a Mass at St Anthony's of Padua Church in Rocky Point. Immediately following we will go to Calverton National Cemetery for the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please find it in your heart to make a donation to your local VA facility or VA program. Online donations can be made to www.mybrothervinny.org to help homeless veterans. Or mail monetary donations (check) in my dad's (John Lacey) memory to: Northport VA, 79 Middleville Rd, Northport, NY 11768, Attn: Volunteer Services.

Love & Prayers from the Krushina cousins
When John and Barbara got married on Jan. 27th 1968 they had already purchased their home in Rocky Point. The house was not ready to move into so they stayed with Barbara’s parents. Soon after their honeymoon the new couple went out to see how their house was coming along and they stopped in Huntington to see me and my family. It was a short visit but long enough for a quick beer and some good laughs. Barbara looked at John and said “it;s time to go “Bunkie”; I looked at her and said “Bunkie” and her answer was,”yes, he’s my bunk mate now”. So dear John you are once again with your bunk mate; Rest in Peace friend, Thanks for all the memories the four of us shared along with your great children. My deepest condolences to the family. I love you all. Aunt Renate
Our condolences go out to John’s entire family, worked with John at NYT during the 60’s, have nothing but great memories from so many years ago.
Rest In Peace with Barbara.
