Shawn Gerard Lopez, born July 2, 1958 in Port Jefferson, New York to Maryann Lopez and Austin Lopez. Passed away on January 12th 2022 in Lexington, Maine. He is survived by his son Lee Harrity Lopez, his parents Maryann and Austin Lopez, his sisters Ellen and Laura Lopez, and nephews Michael and Austin Sposato, Kyle and Joey Harrity, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Shawn grew up in Port Jefferson and Mount Sinai, enjoyed disco, road trips with friends, and dancing. He went to Port Jefferson High School playing varsity football and later attended school at Suffolk Community College. Raised a family in Rocky Point. Worked for Honda City and Habberstad BMW as an award winning a automobile sales manager and later went into business for himself opening Puroclean of Eastern Long Island. Shawn was an outstanding chef and loved to feed everyone and anyone. He enjoyed boating and fishing anywhere possible, skiing, and golfing. But most of all, he loved his true home in Maine. Shawn could always be found on the lake or on an ATV in the woods. And was known for his skill with a firearm. Shawn is known by many for being a wonderful friend with a contagious laugh and a loving father to his son Lee.

Shawn was always a great friend since the day we met, he coached my son and his son playing baseball and he was always so great with the kids. They always looked up to him and he always found a way to make them laugh. It is very sad and heartbreaking to loose a good friend at a young age. His memory will always live on through us and will remain in our hearts for all eternity.

You will always be near and dear to my heart ❤. I will always think of you when I hear someone say Shhh, as you often Shhh me 🤫. Thank you for all the fond and good memories, I will miss them with you until we meet again. Laura, Lee and family my thoughts and deepest condolences 🙏 are with you, now and always. Shawn reached out to give me sound advice when I needed. I’ll never forget that. He was a beacon of wisdom and had a strong sense of right and wrong. He told me his son was his greatest gift. He was a good and decent man

Shawn was always the big cousin. He tried to tease me into eating yellow snow while sledding at my house! He was always ready to laugh and loved his family.
The first time I saw him he immediately welcomed me into his home and he made you feel that you had a new friend. To me he was a great listener and he once took me fishing on the sound and I remember talking for hours and having a great time. You will be missed and always in our hearts. I want to wish all of his friends and family strength and above all love to deal with this great loss.

As I cry I laugh as I look back at all the things I did with my friend.. and think about all the people he touched I’m not capable of putting the words together to describe the man I knew..heart of gold he’d do anything for you and with you even when we didn’t know what we were doing and it always turned out to be an adventure with many laughs..I will miss him and look forward to seeing him again some day until then I will continue to tell the stories and continue to laugh as I think and tell them.. I’m honored to have been considered family by him..

I didn’t know your dad but knew you from the hardware store. (You’re also best friends with my cousin….). I just wanted to write to say I’m so sorry for your loss and you and the family have my deepest sympathy.

Summer of 74: took a bike ride to Quonset Pt., RI to visit my sister and husband ,a Navy officer , stationed there. My brother, Kevin , 6 yrs my junior qlso came. We invited Shawn, a wildman, 16 at the time and I recall his dad telling me to ‘look out ‘for Shawn.
Well, the route given us by ‘bro-in -law’ seemed to be totally uphill. Kevin an I would be chugging up towards a bend that I hoped was level but Shawn would sprint ahead to the bend, stop and yell back to us:”THERE’S MORE HILL!”
He did this seemingly 400 times, where I wanted to kill him…until I remembered his dad’s ‘order.’

I could never be the avid outdoorsman as you, but thanx for getting me out there. Whether mountain-biking, just talkin, etc.. all those times are priceless. A true friend.
For 50yrs we always knew if either of us got into trouble, the other would be there for you. For being an endless fountain of useful information and help, Iam forever grateful.
For the family.. wish I could have offered condolences in person. I know this is a hard one. Hope you’re staying strong, as tough as Shawn would be.
