Betty Knodel

March 3, 1937 ~ October 23, 2023
Born in:
Danbury, CT
Resided in:
Mount Sinai, NY
Elizabeth “Betty” Knodel joined her daughter, Stacy, in Heaven on October 23, 2023.
Betty spent most of her life caring for and loving her family. Fred and Betty joined their lives in 1962 and spent 61 years together. Their precious daughter, Stacy, went to Heaven on May 13, 2013.
Her son, Rick Knodel, was and always will be, a man who brought much pride to his parents. Rick and his wife, Donna, have raised two beautiful twin boys, Chris and Matt, who are the light of their grandmother’s life. Betty has always cared deeply for her family and up to the end of life, treasured every moment spent with them.
While raising two children, Betty worked in various positions which allowed her to spend most of her time with her children and husband when they needed her. She chaperoned dances, carried all the baseball and softball equipment, sat endlessly at field hockey games, baseball games and hockey practices.
When her husband retired, they moved to Pawleys Island, SC where Betty spent many years at The Lakes at Litchfield, rising to the position of Marketing Director and retiring from there in 2013.
Betty hosted her son and family in Pawleys Island and then Murrells Inlet as often as they could get away and spent many happy hours visiting Rick, Donna, Chris and Matt in New York over the Christmas holidays. Being there brought more love and admiration for Rick and his family to last forever.
It’s always sad to lose a family member and Betty wanted Fred and Rick along with his family, to know she will be sharing their lives from Heaven. Chris and Matt, always keep your eye on those yellow butterflies in Spring and Summer. I will be hitching a ride on one of them to check on you both.

Thank you. Your kind words mean so much to us. We are glad she was a bright light in your life.
Jan, Betty was blessed to have you in her life, and we are blessed as well. She adored you and she so enjoyed meeting up with you and Maggie for your walks. She also missed seeing you every day since they moved back to NY. You were such a good friend to her and Rick and I have always appreciated that.
Now all the yellow butterflies surround us, and will always remind us that Betty is still with us.
Ruth, Betty treasured your friendship. It was very hard for her to leave both you and Jan when she moved back to NY. She was so thrilled that you and Jan were able to visit her here. She was beyond excited to show you both around , and she was so looking forward to another visit. We will always appreciate the love and support you gave her over the years.
Mike and Linda, even though we have not lived in the same state for years, you both have managed to be here for us for every major milestone. You have once again dropped everything to be here for us during this very difficult time. To say we appreciate your love and support is an understatement. We love you, and we are truly blessed to have you as friends.
Thank you. Rick has always spoken so highly of you. Your kind words mean so much to us during this very difficult time.
