Yesim was born in Istanbul, Turkey, the eldest daughter of Necat and Aymelek Okcugil. She came into this world like a brilliant comet, and made her graceful departure surrounded by her loving family.
A classically trained pianist, Yesim pursued her passion for music in her youth at the prestigious Istanbul Conservatory and the Juilliard School of Music. Her musical talent brought joy to many and was a testament to her artistic spirit.
In addition to her musical achievements, Yesim cherished a fulfilling career that spanned over 30 years as a dental practice manager. She was instrumental in building and managing the practice of her late husband, Dr. Arif S. Izmirligil, whom she worked alongside until his passing in December of 2020.
She loved to cook and bake for her loved ones. She loved to play music from the 70’s and 80’s. She loved hosting holidays and parties, and she loved to make people laugh. Her zest for life and boundless vitality infused every gathering with warmth and joy.
Yesim leaves behind her beloved children, Serra and Edip, who will forever remember her endless love and guidance. She is also survived by her dear mother, Aymelek, her sister Elif, and her niece Aria Bella. She was a beacon of talent, beauty, vitality, and warmth, endearing herself to everyone fortunate enough to meet her.
Mom—you always had a way of shining brighter than anyone else. Your radiant spirit illuminated the lives of everyone around you. You are so deeply missed and will be forever remembered by us all.
