Eduardo D. Austria

July 4, 1949 ~ July 17, 2024
Bob was born in Manila, Philippines, the eldest of eight siblings of Drs. Eduardo Sr. and Carmen Austria. He received a Jesuit college education at Ateneo De Manila. In 1970, he moved to New York to further his education at Fordham University and The New School. After his studies, Bob became a master salesman in New York’s Garment District.
After Eduardo Sr. died young, Bob devoted his life to supporting his siblings, who include three doctors, a speech-language pathologist, a Philippine diplomat, and two businessmen. His longtime companion, Claudine, was the love of his life.
Bob was bright, playful, and had a great sense of humor. Happy-go-lucky by nature, he never seemed to let things get him down. His positive energy was contagious, and he knew how to light up a dance floor.
His favorite expression was “do we have enough?” in Tagalog, which was his way of asking, “do you need anything?”
Bob passed peacefully after a long battle with cancer.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Our prayers for the repose of the soul of Bob.
We remember you for your kindness, for calling to give greetings on birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. God bless you!
Will be waiting for your phone call when it gets to be my time…my good friend. Rest in peace.
Rest in peace Bob. I will always cherish the times we spent together in NY and here at home. You have always been an inspiration to me. Go and rest and be happy in God’s warm embrace and be united with Tita Carmen and your dad.
Eduardo Dominguez Austria
You are Kuya Bob to me and Malou. Respectfully, because you are the eldest of the Dominguez cousins and fondly, because of your kindness. Beautiful memories abound through the years we spent during your visits in Chicago and ours in New York. You always called on my birthday, a day you never forgot because it was also your Papa’s birthday. On the day we learned of your passing, Malou and I saw a brown colored bird perched on our balcony which hung around for a long minute, looked our way for a while, before flying away. We said to each other, “that was Kuya Bob saying goodbye.”
Rest ka na Kuya Bob. We send you our love and prayers. Give our Dad Wally a tight hug.
We will miss your friendship, timely calls and greetings, Bobby A.
Rest in peace.
Our condolences to the Austria family.
So saddened by the news of Bob’s demise. Our families have been long time close family friends – from his parents with whom I have memories from my childhood – to his siblings especially Butch , Peachy , and Ike. We offer our prayers for Bob’s eternal rest and our sincerest condolences to his loved ones.
