Al was born in Brooklyn, New York. His love of sports, especially baseball, started young. An avid sports enthusiast, he rarely missed a Mets or Rangers game.
Al had many jobs growing up. As a teenager, alongside his pals, he would sing as buses pulled to halt and people tossed coins their way. He shelved books at the New York Library and ushered in many a guest at Radio City Music Hall. As an adult, he settled in as an insurance underwriter at Chubb and Son. Though the jobs through the years were quite different, there was always one constant. Every position or job was held with integrity, respect, honesty, and kindness. For those were the guiding principles Al carried with him throughout his life.
His love of sports played a factor in finding the love of his life. He met his wife, Bea, of almost sixty years, on the lanes of the bowling alley, where he’d tell all she was quite taken with him. However their love story started, it endured and grew throughout their lifetime and will continue into the next.
His son, Frederick and daughter, Susan were blessed by a father who was always there for them. Whether it was coaching his son’s baseball games or attending every dance recital, his constant presence and unwavering support remained well into adulthood. His family experienced unconditional love every day of their lives.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and as said by countless others, a great human being.
To say Alfred Fox will be missed is an understatement. He left his mark here on Earth by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

I was so sorry to hear this last night when my mom told me. I have some of the best memories of your Dad with my Dad. They are now together again, probably bowling, talking insurance, sports or about us. Your Dad was a great kind gentle man and that voice! I will never forget hearing him sing Frank Sinatra! After meeting him for the first time I referred to Mr. Fox as “Big Al.” He was a great husband, father and dog sitter. He was a gentle man equipped with much love, wisdom, patience and fortitude. He continued to be all of this as he struggled with his own issues and never waivered from the values that he projected and lived by. The world is better because of people like him. Soar with the angels Big Al, you deserve it.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your Poppy. Big Al was a remarkable man. I was beyond blessed to know him. His calm nature, tremendous kind heart, infectious smile and dry sense of humor were unmatched. He was a beloved husband, father and friend who was seen as a pillar of strength, a source of guidance, and a symbol of unconditional love. Although no words can ease the pain you are all feeling, please find solace in knowing that your Dad’s legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to shine through all of you. Al Fox definition of gentleman… What a kind,genuine gentle soul with a smile that put you immediately at ease and made you smile too. The love story between Bea & Al has always been in my mind as amazing and goals. They were absolutely an example of true love . The many who got to know him were better for it .The way the Fox family cares for each other is amazing . He will be missed…
