Johanna Cramer Gibbons (April 19, 1965- November 8, 2024)

Johanna was a remarkable woman. She was a beloved mom, sister, cousin, colleague and friend. She was the daughter of James and Eugenia Gibbons who predeceased her. She always loved her parents and she remained close to them throughout their lives. She was the former wife of Joseph D’Amico, Sr. She was very close to her son’s Joseph Jr. and Anthony. She always praised her sons’ many achievements throughout their lives as they remained close. She was grateful for the moral and emotional support they gave her during her illness. Unfortunately, having a diagnosis of Primary Myelofibrosis caused her to stop working in December 2023. In early January 2024 she had a brain operation at Stonybrook Hospital that gave her a some months reprieve from her illness. She wanted to stay independent throughout her life and did accomplish that goal almost to the very end. For many, many years she worked at a luggage factory on Long Island until the pandemic. Her last job was at a manufacturing bakery plant where she endured working in extreme heat and difficult conditions. Friends and family appreciated her kind authentic nature. Always non judgmental, she was always respectful towards everyone. She had a fun sense of humor. At the end of her life she visited with work friends Olga and Donna. Friends from school Kathy, and her best friend Suzanne. Suzanne managed to help Johanna and assisted in her care up to the end. Johanna and Suzanne were able to attend a concert together to see Squeez and The Clash that she really enjoyed. Johanna always remained a loyal, friendly confidant to all family members and lovingly remained close to her brother Jimmy and sisters Gia, Maria, Daria, Cecily, Veronica and Priscilla. She also loved her brothers-in-law, cousins, and many nieces and nephews in her large extended family. Her memory is a blessing to us all!
