Raymond R. Newcomb

August 20, 1954 ~ February 7, 2025
Resided in:
Rocky Point, NY
It is with extreme pain and sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Newcomb, age 70, on 2/7/25. Ray had been surviving with cholangiocarcinoma for the past three years. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Born August 20, 1954, and raised in Merrick, New York, Ray was the very best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and role model. He was one of a kind. He loved wholeheartedly and unconditionally. The strongest man with the softest heart. A true hero, serving as a lieutenant in the NYPD, and as a first responder during 9/11. He took such pride in his family and would tell everyone about his kids, grandkids, great-grandaughter, and all their accomplishments. Known for his infectious sense of humor, he touched the lives of all who knew him. He loved his “toys” Chevy Chevelle, campers, boats, his dog Bella, swimming in and admiring “blue water,” and his latest adventure, his Harley Davidson. He made the “bestest” sauce. He was a mechanical genius; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. He would be there for anyone at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. He always loved a good surprise and found joy in giving gifts from the heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tyanne, and children Ray Jr (Jenny), April (Jack), Tara, Christopher (Mollie), and Brian (Marjory Joy). Grandchildren Austin, Alexa (Elvin), Jack, Peter, Lucas, Lilly, Max, and Cameron, and great grandaughter Aubri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Margaret, and two sisters, Alice and Margaret.
The void from his loss will never be filled. As his granddaughter said, “There was a life with grandpa… and life after.”
Until we meet again, our love and beautiful memories will guide us through these difficult times. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten.
Friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating Ray’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation
