August 18, 1945 ~ April 21, 2025

Born in: Union Springs, AL
Resided in: Lindenhurst, NY

Curtis Holmes Sr, age 79, of Lindenhurst NY departed this life on April 21, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most. He was a man of quiet strength and deep wisdom. He was a proud US Navy veteran & lived a life defined by honor & integrity.

Born on August 18, 1945 in Union Springs AL, Curtis enlisted in the US Navy at a young age, serving his country with distinction & honor. It was while deployed overseas that he nurtured an insatiable love for global history, geography, & travel. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of history and collected National Geographic magazine. He was an avid reader, never missing his daily newspaper. He loved talking about current events & world affairs. He was a lifelong sports lover; a diehard Yankees fan. He was seldom seen without his Yankees cap perched over his fro.

After retiring from the military, he went on to become a civil servant, ultimately retiring from the United States Postal Service. He was a dedicated employee with an exemplary work ethic.

Curtis married & started his family in 1975. He was a constant & consistent presence; a family man til the end. His children Jamie, Charise, Curtrise and Curtis Jr, along with his ex wife Deborah, were by his side until shortly before he passed. The last sounds he heard were of their laughter, which is when he knew he could rest well.

Curtis is survived by his children Jamie, Charise, Curtrise and Curtis Jr; grandchildren Jamie Jr, Njeri, Jaylin, True, Janise, Nasir, Saraji, Cherish; great grandson Xavier; as well as a host of extended family and loved ones.

Although he is no longer here with us physically, his spirit will forever live on through his loved ones.
