Alex, A Gift on the Road of Life

  1. I met Alex when, for my 50th birthday, I decided to travel with my daughters and my parents to visit my beloved family in New York and celebrate that special milestone with the people I care about the most.Alex had never seen us before, and yet he welcomed us into his home with Laura as if we had always been part of his family. We will never forget the laughter we shared, all of us watching Alex and my father chatting and laughing together—even though they didn’t speak a word of each other’s language. How on earth did they do it? Alex gently became part of our family—with his kindness, his warmth, his sense of humor, and his deep humanity. The days we spent with Laura and Alex made me understand what family truly means: a safe harbor, a place of love and belonging. And they showed me the kind of life and connection I wanted for the second half of my journey.
Safe travels, Alex. Surely God had other plans for you—important ones to carry out by His side.
