Scott M. Hnis

Hnis, Scott M – of Kings Park, New York, passed away on July 1, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Christine (née Schroeder), devoted father of Thomas and Emily, and cherished son of Richard and the late Patricia Hnis.

He is survived by his loving brothers, Ricky and Craig, and sister-in-law, Kimberly. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces—Kayla, Hailey, Madison, and Brianna—and his mother-in-law, Janet Schroeder. Scott was a caring nephew to Carole Hnis, and the late Donald, Ken & Debbie Hnis, Jack & Geraldine Cosgrove and Jack & Anna Boyle. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Scott was a retired Senior Parole Officer for the State of New York. He loved spending time on his boat, fishing, cheering on his children at lacrosse games, and sharing laughter over a cold beer. His quick wit, unwavering support for his family, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Branch Funeral Homes of Commack (2115 Jericho Turnpike, Commack, NY 11725) on Monday, July 7, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM. A Catholic prayer service will be held at 3:00 PM, and the New York State Parole Officers Honor Guard will present the colors at 8:00 PM. Cremation services will be private.
