Resided in: Danville, PA

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Charles V. Potter, beloved father to Harry, William, and Jennifer. He leaves behind five grandchildren, all dear to his heart.

Charles V. Potter, 81, of Danville, Pennsylvania, formerly a resident of Smithtown, New York, passed away July 2025. Born in November 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, Charles was the proud son of Harry and Mary Potter. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Charles is survived by his sister Elizabeth and his brother Frank. He is preceded in death by cherished siblings Joseph, Jackie, Harry, Patricia and Katherine.

Prior to retirement he valued his time working at Mullooly Jeffrey Rooney, and Flynn. Throughout his life he busied himself with pursuits such as woodworking, photography, and gardening. Besides leaving his family with priceless photographs and beautiful pieces of furniture, he helped build the playground at Branch Brook Elementary many years ago and as his crowning achievement, built his young daughter a very impressive playhouse. He took pride in understanding as much as he could about home, car, and property maintenance. He had an admirable, lifelong passion for reading and absolutely loved learning. He enjoyed all genres but became a self-taught expert on many facets of history and those who helped shape it.

He had an affinity for his pet dogs that was simply unmatched. He is no doubt joyfully reunited with them now, after many years of treasuring their memories. Charles believed in charity and donated both to Memorial Sloan Kettering and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

If so desired, In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either of these organizations which were dear to Charles’ heart.
