Jerry N. DelBene
September 18, 1958 ~ October 19, 2025
Jerry DelBene passed away peacefully, and without pain in his sleep on Sunday October 19, 2025. Jerry resided in East Northport, NY with his beautiful, loving wife Sonia DelBene. They had three children together and shared a wonderful life, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary recently in September in the Hamptons, where they first met.
In August, Jerry became a first-time grandfather to a beautiful baby girl, Elsie Scott, who he loved dearly and was able to spend time with before his passing.
Jerry was a loving, devoted father to Victor, Andrea and Michael. Victor is married to his college sweetheart Molly, and together they are the proud parents of baby Elsie. Victor has a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology and has been published many times. Andrea and Michael live near each other in Manhattan and followed in their father’s career footsteps- which they always enjoyed bonding over.
Jerry had a long and rewarding career in Commercial Real Estate Finance, most recently spending nearly 12 years working for Long Island developers, Rechler Equity. Jerry was passionate about his career and wanted to work for as long as he possibly could. He had aspirations of becoming a real estate finance professor in his retirement. He was an excellent life-long mentor to all of his children.
Jerry had a brief stint as an actor in 2011, starring in a short film titled “Yonkers” in the house he grew up in, directed by his daughter Andrea. The film also starred Sonia, Victor, Michael, Jerry’s niece Christina, and his loving parents Nicola and Maria, who he is now reunited with. The film won two awards at a film festival, giving Jerry an IMDb credit.
On 9/11, Jerry nearly lost his life, working in close proximity to the World Trade Center for the Trinity Church real estate portfolio. He showed bravery and helped others get home safely, after he was miraculously saved himself on Greenwich Street as the first tower fell. Jerry’s family is eternally grateful that he came home that day, and went on to enjoy a full, and happy life.
Jerry left a lasting impression on everyone he met, with his vibrant, positive energy, big smile, and unforgettable sense of humor. He was a lifelong learner, and read a variety of topics from history, to economics and politics.
Jerry enjoyed living on Long Island where he spent his time kayaking, biking, playing chess with Michael, having meals outside with his family, strolling Northport Harbor, and attending beach sunsets with his wife.
Jerry was a man of God. He loved and cared for his family unconditionally. He moved mountains for those he loved, and had a contagious sense of optimism. Jerry gave those in his life the gift of endless laughs.
Authentically himself, he was truly one of a kind. Jerry will be missed and loved dearly- every day, forever.
