It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our Mother, Matilda (Bo) LaTuso on November 28th 2025.
Bo was born on January 20th, 1941 in Saint Albans, New York to August and Florence Burger. Bo was married to her husband of 59 years, Ernest LaTuso who passed away in 2023. They were married in 1963 and spent their entire married life on Long Island. They bought their first home together in Baldwin, moved to Melville, and retired in Greenport where they lived for 25 years.
Bo and Ernie welcomed their first son Anthony in 1964 followed by Lisa in 1967 and Christopher in 1968. A fabulous mother, Bo was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were in school full time and she joined Citibank. Bo retired from Citibank after 21 years and began what was her and Ernie’s wonderful retirement in Greenport, a place that both Bo and Ernie thought to be the greatest place on the planet.
Bo can be remembered for many things. She was a great storyteller, and had stories about her stories. Her ability to keep a conversation going was simply incredible. She loved bingo and mah-jongg and would travel great lengths for a game with friends. She was always put together with make-up and accessories – even the hospital staff commented on her nails on her last days. Bo loved to have people over to her home and could always be counted on to prepare a factor more food than was necessary.
Bo was thrilled with the family she and Ernie created. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Bo is survived by her son Anthony (JoAnne), her daughter Lisa Pappas (Danny), her son Christopher (Stephanie) and her seven grandchildren Anthony, Elizabeth, Meghan, Liam, Margaret, Kiera, and Melanie. She will be forever missed by her family and those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

We were so very sorry to hear of Bo’s passing just now. I have very wonderful memories of “Aunt Bo and Uncle Ernie” from my visits as a kid to Long Island to see them and my Grandparents, August and Irma Burger. My Dad, Bo’s nephew John, and mother Nancy also send their condolences. She was an extraordinary woman! I loved the part in her obituary about how great of a story teller she was and that “she had stories about her stories.” I remember her stories fondly, and I must have inherited that from her as I can never tell a short story! She was one-in-a million! Our prayers are with your family.
