Adele Ann Amadio Scott

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our mother, Adele Ann Amadio Scott on December 6, 2025 at the age of 87.  

Adele was born on May 5, 1938 to Angela and Alfred Amadio in Brooklyn, New York.   She had one sibling, a brother Alfred who passed away in 1968.  Adele graduated from St. Joseph’s Commercial High School and went on to study Psychology and Education at St. John’s University.  She completed a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Adelphi University.

Adele had a long career as a Special Education teacher for the Franklin Square School District.  She was a dedicated teacher and advocate for Special Education.  After 30 years of teaching she retired and devoted much time to volunteer work which included the Volunteers for Literacy (teaching adults) and the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Adele or “Nanny” was a hands on and fun loving mother and grandmother.  She was involved in the lives of all her grandchildren and could be counted on to attend any sporting event, school event and was always there to provide encouragement and support in any situation.  Adele was always family first and her daily priority was her children and grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was Christmas Eve and she would start her holiday preparation weeks before the big day.  Her family vows to continue the traditional Christmas Eve celebration.

Adele is survived by a devoted family which includes her daughter Allison, (John) son Richard (Camellia) and son Alfred (Lina).  She was proud of all her grandchildren, John, Angela, Alex, A.J., Sabrina, Jason, Victor and Nicholas.  Adele was thrilled to become a great grandmother to Adeline and Charles. She will forever remain in our hearts and leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and kindness.
