MARY ANN McNAMARA RINGEWALD, age 90, of Holtsville, New York died Saturday, January 10, 2026. Mary Ann was born April 11, 1935 in Valley Stream, NY. She is the Daughter of Alicia (nee Rakeman) and William Schlichtig. Mary Ann had a long career as an Art Teacher in Massapequa Public Schools. She was a prize-winning artist for her works in illustration, painting, etchings and sculpture including illustrations in the Best Book Award winner From the Lighthouse Window (1992). Mary Ann was educated in New York earning her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and her Masters in Studio Art and Painting from Adelphi University. Her Studies continued at the Art Students League, Parson’s School of Design, The Cape Cod School in Provincetown, MA, Maryland Hall of Arts, Maryland Academy of Arts and the National Gallery, Washington, DC. She Served on the Art Advisory Board at Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, MD as well as the National League of Penwomen in Washington, DC. Mary Ann is predeceased by her Husband, John Ringewald, of 40 years and Her Brother, William Schlichtig (Mary). Mary Ann is survived by her 5 sons Thomas (Rose), Raymond (Avaril), William (Jeanne), Peter (Lisa) and James and 12 grandchildren, Liam, Ellen, Ashleigh, Erin, Molly, Jack, Michael, Gregory, Luke, Casey, Joseph and Maggie and Three Great Grandchildren Maeve, Shae and Ellie. Mary Ann is also survived by 3 step children Cathy of San Diego, CA, John of Grass Valley, CA and Amy of Berkley, CA and three step grandchildren, Casey, Penelope and Fae. Mary Ann and John enjoyed a long retirement traveling, Painting and spending time in their homes from Norway, ME, Royal Oak, MD and Bonita Springs, FL. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at St. Mark's RC Church, 105 Randall Road, Shoreham, New York. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram. An online guestbook can be found at www.rockypointfuneralhome.com.
