Resided in: Smithtown, New York

David Alan Lewis Jr. was born on January 7, 2004 in Smithtown, New York and passed away suddenly in his sleep on April 10, 2026 at the young age of 22. David leaves behind a grieving family including his father David Sr, his mother Tanya, his two older sisters Deilia and Ashley, his step brother Nick, multiple cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as his grandparents, Granny and Pop. David attended Smithtown High School West and played as a defensive tackle on the football team. He then went on to attend St. Joseph’s University and was a part of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. While David did not get the chance to walk with his class at graduation in May, he completed his credits in January for his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. During his short lifetime, David’s devotion to his friends, family, and the members of his community was most evident. David worked as a Direct Support Professional with Independent Support Services (ISS) helping special needs individuals become as independent as possible. David absolutely loved eating pizza, watching his favorite anime show ‘One Piece’, and playing Mario Super Smash Bros with his friends. While David is now gone, he will never be forgotten. Not a single person could meet him and not be touched by his electric energy and care for others.

  1. Tanya, David and family, I am so sorry for your loss. . We do not pick the time we are called. His smile is beautiful and I am sure he is a beautiful soul. May the comfort of his goodness continue to bless you with many fond memories. He lives always in your heart. My prayers are with you. Love, Leona

  2. Dave was one of the most amazing people I could have ever met. I am truly blessed to have had him in my life, let alone hang out with him every week. His laughter and smile was truly contagious and he taught me so many valuable lessons in the 3 years that I have known him. He was a beautiful soul, and I still smile every time I think of how he called me his little brother. For the Lewis family, thank you for being there for him and me, and I pray for you constantly during this difficult time. God bless. Love, Terence.

  3. candleIt is with a heavy heart I light this candle. David has been an inspiration & and positive force for good. I am blessed to have met him. The memories I will forever cherish. A beautiful Soul and bright spirit. I will take comfort in knowing he is there now watching over us all.
To the Lewis family, May prayers, Light and Love guide you through this difficult time.

  4. candleYou are missed beyond words. Your voice from Terence’s room talking about his chores, your big ol sneakers in the hallway when I got home, pippy meowing at you and rubbing your leg, your funny quirky jokes at bbqs, all the small things now are larger than ever before! We miss you SO MUCH!!! Forever in our hearts & memories. Xoxo With Love, Always!

  5. candleEvery conversation with you was a blessing, though we had only a few. I’m thankful. I got to meet you.

  6. candleDavid, French class wouldn’t have been what it was without you. I always enjoyed working with you, and you were always kind to me when so many others at our school were not. I’m thankful our paths crossed, however briefly it was for 🙂

  7. my thoughts are with you and your family in this time of the world turning upside down. I know that your faith in
God and the support of your friends will help you get through the pain though it will never really go away. May you remember the good memories while accepting the not quite so good ones. There is no understanding just acceptance. love
