Janet Zwycewicz

janet zwycewicz

September 28, 1951 ~ August 11, 2026

Janet M. Zwycewicz was born on September 28, 1951, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She passed away on August 11, 2026.

Janet was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph C. Zwycewicz and Stella Zwycewicz and the younger sister of the late Richard J. Zwycewicz Sr. and the late Leonard C. Zwycewicz (Lorraine). She was also the sister-in-law of Carole Zwycewicz.
Janet was a devoted aunt to Diane Zwycewicz Teed (Gregory Pickard), Richard J. Zwycewicz Jr. (Annemarie), the late Kevin C. Zwycewicz, Karen Zwycewicz, and Susan Hall (Zwycewicz). She was also a proud great-aunt to Trevor Zwycewicz (Payton), Grant Teed, Jared Zwycewicz, Carson Teed, Gavin Nesbitt, Emma Zwycewicz, and Austin Nesbitt.

Janet was a woman of strong convictions, high standards, and unmistakable opinions. She was never shy about telling things exactly as she saw them and could be very direct in expressing what she believed. Those who knew her best understood that beneath that strong exterior was a deep and genuine love for her family. She expressed that love in her own way: through her concern, her involvement, her expectations, and her unwavering interest in the lives of those closest to her. Family and friends mattered greatly to Janet, and she remained closely connected to those she loved throughout her life.

Janet devoted her professional life to education. She began her career as a high school business teacher and loved being in the classroom. She later served as Director of Career and Technical Education for the Sewanhaka Central High School District before retiring. Her strong work ethic, high expectations, and commitment to education were hallmarks of her career and reflected many of the same qualities she brought to her personal life.

Janet will be remembered for her independence, determination, candor, strong sense of family, and the distinctive way she cared for the people in her life.
