It is with great sadness that the family of John William Rutherford announce his passing.

John is survived by his wife Leslie of 58 years, his children Michael (Deborah), John (Suzanne), Richard (Susan) and Laurie. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren Victoria, Michael, Samantha, Jennifer, Alyssa, Thomas, James and Emma.

John William Rutherford age 83 of Ridge NY passed away April 10,2025. He was born in Brooklyn NY on July 22, 1941. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Then 32 years as a police officer with New York City Police Department (NYPD). He is known for his passion of reading, his time with his bowling buddies and his love for all animals.

A memorial service will be held at Branch Funeral of Miller Place on 25A Miller Place, NY on April 26. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Good Shepherd Hospice or Save-A-Pet Animal Shelter in John’s
