Born in: Cisterna, Italy
Resided in: Kings Park, New York

Teresina Nives (Peloso) Gasperetti was born in Cisterna del Friuli, Italy in 1931. She married Bruno Dosso and emigrated to the U.S. on the SS Vulcania in 1954. She first settled in the West Village on Christopher Street in NYC before moving to Great Neck in 1958 where she raised her three children, Maria,Gina and Bruno, then relocated to Kings Park where she later remarried to Lino Gasperetti.

Raising her family in a new country brought its challenges, but gathering around the table remained a strong tradition. Whether at weekly picnics with family and friends or around the kitchen table, especially for Sunday dinners, these memories are well treasured.

Nives also developed into an expert seamstress which became her esteemed trade. She created and tailored clothes for many friends, family and customers over the years becoming well known for her expertise.
Gardening was also her true passion and her vegetable garden was a beauty to behold. She loved music, dancing, bocce and all the festive Friulan traditions which she proudly passed on to her family.

Nives is survived by her children and their spouses: Maria Dosso and Larry Adamkiewicz, Gina Dosso and Antonio Crimani, Bruno and Victoria Dosso; her grandchildren: Lauren Adamkiewicz and spouse Rob Schwint, Dana Adamkiewicz, Kathryn Crimani, Natalie Dosso, Sammi Dosso, and Scott Dosso. Also her stepchildren Robert and Kristen Gasperetti and Mary Jean (deceased) and Joe Wasilus. Her step grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emily, James and Madeline Wasilus and Brian, Trevor, Andrew and Dylan Gasperetti.

Her family thanks all who those who have honored this inimitable woman and together we wish our mom and nonna all the peace she deserves. Mandi!

Your mother was a truly special woman. I was blessed to have her as my friend and in many ways as my mentor.
I will always hold memories and love in my heart.

  3. We will never forget you Nives. I have wonderful memories of visiting my New York cousins with my dad. We went to New York in a train, just the two of us. Nives took us to all the high lights. Thank you
