Patricia A. Rapp

Patricia Ann Rapp (nee McKenna) passed from this life on February 20, 2025. She was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude McKenna of Mineola. She was born in Manhattan on December 23, 1940, and spent her early childhood in Woodhaven, Queens before moving to Mineola. She has been a resident of Hauppauge since she was married.

Pat was a loving wife of almost 60 years to George, a devoted mother to George, William (Lisa) and Lisa (Anthony DeJohn) and a wonderful grandmother to Courtney (Matthew McMillan), Kathryn, Patrick, Matthew, Stephen, Auden and Jackson. She had a special relationship with her brother James (Patricia) and nephew James.

She was extremely proud of her Catholic School education and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy (’58), Grace Institute (’59) and SCCC (’78). She was a special education English teacher’s aide at Hauppauge High School for many years and was truly devoted to her students.

She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Smithtown and had a tremendous faith with strong devotions to the Blessed Mother and St. Jude. She inspired everyone around her with her faith.

Pat was loved by all, and her Irish charm was felt by everyone who met her. She made friends everywhere she went, making strangers feel comfortable and friends feel loved. She will be greatly missed by all who love her.

A wake will be held at Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 2-5 and 7-9 pm.

A funeral Mass will be said at St. Patrick’s Church in Smithtown on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 9:45 am, followed immediately by interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Smithtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
