Al – Words cannot express my respect and gratitude for you. It was an honor to call you my boss and friend. May God rest your soul. Condolences to Mary and the Cosenza family.
Condolences & prayers go out to your family at this time, God bless!
So sorry to hear of Al’s passing. My condolences to the Cosenza family.
Rest in peace, my wonderful brother-in-law.
You were a fine gentleman. Your kindness, generosity, love, support, good nature and sense of humor were awesome.
Thank you for being you.
As one of many lawyers who had the privilege of working for and with Al at the New York City Transit Authority, I wanted to extend my condolences to Mary and the entire Cosenza family, but also to thank them for sharing Al’s talents, warmth, humanity, wit and humor with us for so many years. To say that Al was a highly intelligent and dedicated lawyer, whose work ethic, professionalism and integrity set a high bar does not begin to do him justice. He readily shared his range and depth of knowledge with both seasoned and newly minted attorneys, and was a mentor to many. As General Counsel, he could have delegated tasks to subordinates, but he regularly took on some of the most difficult and complex projects in order to benefit the public he served. Al’s drive, effort and integrity were truly legendary. He instilled in us the simple truth that there was no higher calling than public service, and his leadership and guidance were gifts that I continue to treasure. May Al now rest in peace.
I also had the privilege and honor to work with Al at the TA Law Department and I heartily agree with Flo. Sincere condolences to the family and may Al rest in peace.
Truly a great man and a pleasure to work with.
To Mary and the whole Cosenza Family,
I feel very privileged to have worked for and with Al since he first came to the LIRR. Initially very stern and intimidating, over the years I came to refer to him as “My Pal Al” in acknowledgement of the guidance and support he gave me. I learned something from Al every time I was with him. And yes, he DID have a great sense of humor.
He will be very missed.
It was many years ago, but I still remember Al Cosenza’s dignity, professionalism and willingness to give a new lawyer from Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn the equal opportunity for success and a seat at the table to claim it. I learned so much under the leadership of Al Cosenza and the NYCTA commercial litigation team and those lessons have stayed with me and helped shape my legal career. Thank you, Al Cosenza.
