Albert Kirchner, Jr., age 70, of Ridge, NY died Thursday, December 11, 2014. Born August 2, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and the late Eileen (Campbell) Kirchner, Sr. He served in the United States Army. He was employed by USPS, Port Jefferson Station, NY as a Clerk. He is survived by his beloved wife: Patricia(Greenwald) Kirchner, Jr. , loving daughter: Karen Powers of Port Jefferson Station, NY, sons: Kevin Kirchner of Sound Beach, NY, Keith Kirchner of Center Moriches, NY, sister: Eileen Obser of East Hampton, NY, brothers: Thomas Kirchner of Baldwin, NY, Robert Kirchner of FL; and eight cherished Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, December 15 at St. Louis de Montfort RC Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, NY with Fr. Francis Pizzarelli officiating. Burial will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton on Monday, December 15 at 11:15 am. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 14 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. He was very much loved.
Al was my late husband’s John Gallagher’ first cousin and best friend. I first met Al in 1987 at a family gathering. He was the kindest and gentlest man, an it was a pleasure to be in his company. The memories and stories that he told of his school days in Glendale were charming. We will miss you Al always.
