September 17, 1942 ~ September 2, 2024

Born in: Queens, NY
Resided in: Miller Place, NY

Alice Marie (Owen) Pecchio, 81, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alice was born September 17, 1942, to Amelia (Muller) and George Owen in Queens, NY, where she, the eldest of three, was raised and started her adult life. She attended Jamaica Vocational High School meeting her lifelong best friend, Anita (Otten) Frese. Alice graduated class of 1960 valedictorian and then went on to attend Queens College, achieving a degree in chemistry, then working for Pfizer in the Quality Control unit for roughly five years.

In 1968, Alice married Richard, her Richie, whom she had known and been friends with for nearly a decade. After a few years of city living, they moved out to Long Island, where in Miller Place they raised three children in a home filled with laughter and love, even in tough times, as well as an overflowing collection of owl figurines.

Alice was a talented seamstress, first making her own clothing as a teenager and young adult, and then making her children’s costumes for both Halloween and school plays. She crocheted into her later years and was proud to gift her blankets to every baby born into the family and her friend network. Alice was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a cutthroat scrabble player. She was an excellent gift giver and always found the perfect card for every occasion. But mostly, her favorite role in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richie; son and former daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jen; daughter and her longtime partner, Lisa and Paul; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Chase Clouser; daughters’ best friend of over forty years and “third daughter”, Jennifer Scarangella; grandchildren, Jacob and Andrew Pecchio and Ryan and Hannah Clouser; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Karen Owen; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Schmitt; and countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

She will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by everyone her life touched.

Guestbook

  1. candlePlease accept condolences and prayers on behalf of the Carter family. We are so sorry to hear of your loss. On a personal note, Mrs. Pecchio was an amazing person. She was the woman behind one of my dearest friends. She always managed to tolerate our antics with grace and good nature. I will always remember her beautiful and kind smile. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

  2. Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Alice’s entire family on her recent passing. I’ve had the life-long privilege of knowing Alice, Richard, Anthony, Lisa and Laura since 1981 when I began teaching their children instrumental music. Throughout the years, I’ve watched them grow into beautiful and successful adults, who like their parents, are now raising their own children in a likewise loving manor. I had the privilege of knowing this wonderful family for so many years as Alice and Richard have always so lovingly always made me feel a part of it. They were and always will be my second family. God accepted another angel to Heaven when he welcomed Alice.🙏☀️👼
