Andrew J. “Andy” Franzone, 91, of Kings Park, New York, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 9, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, Andy was the beloved son of Anthony and Mary (DeMarco) Franzone. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 before beginning a long career with Walker Prismatics, where he worked for many years. Throughout his career, Andy was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
Andy was a proud Italian-American who valued family above all else. He shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Patricia, and together they built a home centered around love, tradition, and hard work. Although he could be stubborn and had a tough outer shell at times, those who knew him best understood the caring, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend beneath it all. His family always came first.
Family was at the center of Andy’s life. Every year, they took an annual family camping trip to Maine, a tradition they continued for many years and one that created lasting memories.
Outside of work, Andy enjoyed golfing, fishing, painting, and listening to Frank Sinatra, jazz, and big band music. He was meticulous by nature, loved keeping everything organized and carefully labeled, and had a special fondness for the color green—especially his beloved aqua mint green Mercury.
One of Andy’s favorite daily traditions was meeting his longtime friend, Chuck Heraghty, for afternoon coffee before taking a drive to the Kings Park Bluff. Even after Chuck was no longer able to leave his home, Andy faithfully continued visiting him every day, a testament to the loyal friend he was.
Andy was preceded in death by his beloved son, Andrew Franzone; his parents, Anthony and Mary Franzone; his sister, Josephine Calendrillo; and his brother-in-law, Joe Calendrillo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Franzone; his daughter-in-law, Karen Franzone; his children, Lawrence Franzone and his partner, Brian Homsher, Paul Franzone and his wife, Melissa D’Agostino, and Michelle Sullivan and her partner, Ron Bass. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, James and his wife, Lisa, Marissa, Brianna, Kyle, Anya, Chelsea, Andrew, Aiden, and Christopher, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Branch Funeral Homes of Commack. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Kings Park, followed by a procession to Calverton National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered.
Andy will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, his sense of humor, and his unwavering dedication to those he cared about. The example he set through his devotion to his family, his friendships, and his work will remain with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
