Andrew Spencer McMorris

andrew mcmorris
Andrew McMorris was no ordinary boy.Andrew was born with a sense of wonder and amazement of the world around him, and he never lost the ability to be awed by and delighted with all it had to offer.Andrew was an artful child, and he channeled his abundant creativity through painting, acting, singing, and playing his piano, guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Always up for a costume, Andrew was Tin Man in his 5th grade production of The Wizard of Oz and of course Michael Jackson.Andrew was an active kid, and was often on the rosters of community soccer and basketball teams. This year, Andrew joined his middle school cross country team and had looked forward to running with his team in his first meet this week. He loved to ski, and looked forward to long weekends and fresh powder. He loved being outdoors, especially hiking and camping trips with his friends in Troop 161.Andrew was a dedicated community member, providing years of service through his participation with his Boy Scout Troop, Cub Scouts, and various school organizations. Serving in Boy Scouts was an honor Andrew was proud of. He dedicated to obtaining the highest honor of Eagle Scout. He participated in countless fundraisers, community clean-ups, and other projects such as tree planting and gardening. He loved to travel, and was always up for trips, visits and excursions. Together with his family, Andrew toured parts of Hawaii and Alaska, explored Paris, France, London, England and sailed Disney cruises.Bright and hardworking, Andrew was an Honor Roll student. Classmates, teachers and friends found him sometimes silly, always funny and, occasionally, a bit cheeky. He was a friend to everyone and showed kindness to all.Andrew was a loving son to Alisa and John, and a dedicated brother to Arianna. And to our larger SWR community of parents and children, Andrew was our 'son from another mother' and our 'other brother.'But more than any other characteristic, what stands out about Andrew is his desire to fly and his passion for aviation.Andrew wanted to fly before he could walk. Airplanes, helicopters and rockets were the obsession of his life, and he achieved his first piloting goal this past summer during AeroCamp. Andrew was occasionally chided by parents, coaches and teachers for having his head in the clouds, but for Andrew, that only made sense. He wanted his whole self in the clouds, broken free of the bonds of this earth, borne up into an endless sky, with nothing but blue around him and horizon ahead, aloft and away .' .' .Fly high, Andrew.

  26. FLIGHT by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirthOf sun-split clouds, –and done a hundred thingsYou have not dreamed of –Wheeled and soared and swungHigh in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring thereI’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flungMy eager craft through footless halls of air…Up, up the long, delirious, burning blueI’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy graceWhere never lark or even eagle flew –And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trodThe high untrespassed sanctity of space,Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

  47. So very sorry for the tragic loss of your precious Andrew. Our earth is full of pain, suffering, and sorrow. Losing a loved one in death was never part of our Grand Creators purpose for humans. God has promised to reunite us with our loved ones and to do away with our greatest enemy death.Isaiah 25:8: ‘He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken it.’ Revelation 21: 3,4 promises: ‘With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ΓÇ£Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them.ΓÇ»And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.∩┐╜May the hope in these scriptures bring you comfort and strength to endure during this difficult time. please visit jw.orgmost sincerelyd mullin

  54. Hi. my name is madison zelin. Andrew was a a good friend to me, in fact, at my best friend, Carter Rubin’s birthday party, Andrew and I got really close. One of the things we discussed at the party was our future and what we wanted to do. Andrew said he wanted to try out for AGT, become a pilot, travel ‘everywhere and more’! He danced at that party like MJ himself. . . i never saw him dance again since then, that party was just a few weeks before he passed. Andrew and I have texted, been in many plays together, summer, school. We shared so many great memories. My favorites were High school musical and urine town the plays, he made me laugh so much and he was just so talented and always talked about how much of a ladies man he was, in the halls at school where we’d see each other and fist bump or high five, or he’d just moon walk and give me silly looks, and of course how much of an inspiration he was to me, andrew was so talented in everything he set his mind to, he was a role model. I miss andrew coming into my advisory to play instruments and talk to us(Gross’s advisory), i miss how he would always make me laugh, i miss him at chorus and the play this year, i just miss his smile. . . I was not Andrew’s best friend, maybe if he was still alive we could’ve become even closer and maybe eventually become best friends but we weren’t given that chance, but Andrew still meant so much to me. I miss him every day, i can’t stop thinking about him and how he died, even now in march. This community has suffered too many losses to handle. I saw Kallie the day she died. . .I still am not fully over her death. I want to make a change in this world in honor of Andrew! I want no more young boys or anyone to die due to DWI! There needs to be a change in this world, what happened to Andrew isn’t right, it’s not okay! I try to act like i’m okay but i’m really not inside. I am the scarecrow in this year’s musical the wiz, played by Micheal Jackson in the movie, i am honored to have the chance to honor andrew and his idol, i can’t wait. In honor of andrew we all need to be the best version of ourselves because he was always the best version of him! every night i think about him before bed and i cn’t help but cry. What happened to this little boy isn’t fair, he didn’t deserve this, no one does. When my mom told me that a 7th grade boyscout had died from my school, immediatly I said don’t be andrew please don’t let it be him, i will never be the same. I miss him so much and i can’t even begin to fantasise how his family is feeling, Mrs. and mr. and arianna Mcmorris, you are the strongest people i have ever met, stay strong. I love you Andrew, and I will never forget to you, keep on flying high with MJ buddy! Love, maddie∩┐╜∩┐╜≡ƒÆÖ≡ƒÿó≡ƒîÄ∩┐╜≡ƒÄñ≡ƒÄ╣≡ƒô╖≡ƒÄ¡≡ƒÄ╕≡ƒÄ╢does anyone know where and what i should write in the letter regarding the case of Tomas Murphy for andrew? because i would really like to write one for the court case.

  55. candleMy heart aches for the parents of this beautiful child; as a boy scout I walked that same route and I know the twists and turns of the roads in Yaphank. A life snuffed out by careless disregard and the oldest drug, alcohol.

Four angels to my bed; one to watch, one to pray and two to bear my soul away

  56. candleMy brother was great friends with this magnificent boy. Me and my brother hated eachother, but andrew brought us back together whenever my brother was being mean to me. My brother suffereda great loss when andrew died, like most people did. My brother quit boyscouts since then, andrew wouldve been 17 today aswell as my brother. Andrew mcmorris was a amazing person, very kind and of course very mature for his age. My family is lucky enough to be one of the proud owners of one of andrews paintings, which is a boat docked in the sunlight. It is one of the prettiest paintings ive ever seen, He had, and still does have so much potential. He was a great artist, and a even better friend. Andrew Mcmorris, I know you may not remember me, but I remember you. I was jasons friend, the one that kept trying to involve myself in your hangouts, and I loved when you defended me from everybody else. Andrew, you will be forever remembered, and my mother still has the heart and painting you gave us. Youll always be in my heart, aswell as my familys, even if I hate my brother ill speak for my brother aswell, he misses you a lot, it hasnt been the same but hes been doing quite well. youve carried him all the way through his journey. -Abigail Eyring 2023
