Born in: Brooklyn, NY
Resided in: Kings Park, NY

Anthony J. Cardamone, a dedicated husband and father passed peacefully on the early morning of March 11, 2026. His wife of 61 years and a close family friend were by his side.
Anthony is survived by his wife Antoinette, his children Aurelia, Michael, Benedetto, Anthony, his daughter-in-law Andrea, his grandsons Dominik and Derek, his brother Frank and his sister-in-law Lucy. He is predeceased by his parents Michele and Aurelia and his siblings Joseph, Michael, and Teresa.
Anthony enjoyed life, family, friends, food, and opera. He loved learning, books, talking, and teaching. As a young student he attended ps 157 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Later he attended and graduated from the elite Brooklyn Tech High School, where he met lifelong friends. In City College he pursued a degree in education and met the love of his life. Anthony was the first in his family to graduate from college. His Aunt Louisa fondly called him “Professore”.
He began his career at Jr. High School 49, meeting more lifelong friends along the way. Advancing his career, he became Assistant Principal of ps 157, the same school he, his mother, and aunt had previously attended as students. After retiring he pursued a second career in educational sales. This allowed him to merge his passions for books, talking, and connecting with others.
He loved time with family and friends he called “family of choice”. He loved cooking, traveling, spending winters in Florida, and summers swimming. Anthony loved watching his grandson’s in their many activities, especially those involving music and sports. He was extremely proud of their many academic achievements.
He was a man of strong faith. He demonstrated his devotion to the church in numerous ways, attending mass, being an altar boy, performing in the passion play and teaching religion classes. Some of his fondest memories were of St Lucy’s parish and Father Pete, his mentor.
Anthony will be remembered and missed by those who loved him. We take comfort in knowing he will be reunited with family and friends who have gone before him, and that we will someday all be together in eternity.
