EDWARDS - Arthur J., 88, on September 21, 2014 of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Rocky Point, NY. Beloved husband of 66 years to Virginia (Pfleiderer). Loving father to Susan Connors (William), Arthur (Carol), Janet Hawley (the late John), Karen Thompson (Gerard). Preceded in death by his sons Kenneth (Kim) and Michael. Survived by 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Retired from Stony Brook University. Former Fire Chief (1955 to 1957) and Fire Commissioner (1957 to 1961) with the Rocky Point Fire Department. Served on the Board of Education for Rocky Point Public Schools from 1963 to 1982 and as President of the Board from 1975 to 1982. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2-4 and 7-9 at the Rocky Point Funeral Home, 25A, Rocky Point. Memorial mass at St. Louis DeMontfort R.C. Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, 11:30 am, Saturday, September 27, 2014. Memorial donation may be made to: The Kenneth J. Edwards Memorial Scholarship Fund #U9003 and mailed to Rocky
