  5. Dear Cousins – While I guess everyone says Bernard, I always called him Cousin Bernie and am truly saddened to hear of his passing. Since we lived so far apart – me on the West Coast – we didn’t see each other often, but, regardless, there was always a loving closeness. My first memory of Bernie was when I was about nine years old visiting with my family. I had such a crush on him, especially I think, because he was such a handsome teenager and so nice to me. The next time I saw him, he was already married to the wonderful Lorraine with two little boys, Gary and Richard – Karen was still just a twinkle in their eyes. Bernie, seeing I was a bored teenager, took me swimming at Jones Beach where I proclaimed I could now claim swimming in both the Pacific AND the Atlantic Oceans. Whenever I came to NY Bernie and Lorraine were always so hospitable to me, always making me feel like a special guest. Those are the main memories I have and the ones I will always hold dear. I send my love to Lorraine, Gary, Richard, Karen and her family……..God Bless.
