Brian F. Shuker
June 27, 1961 ~ December 7, 2025
Brian Shuker, 64, of Rocky Point, passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Brian was a devoted husband to Marianne, proud father to Brian and David, and cherished father-in-law to Amber and Erin. He adored his grandchildren, David and Ava, who brought endless joy and light into his life. A dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service, Brian recently celebrated his well-earned retirement. Outside of work, he was known to all as the number one race car fan, with a deep passion for racing that he shared with his family and friends. His humor, warmth, and charismatic spirit filled every room he entered. Brian loved assembling models, racing slot cars with family and friends, and enjoying the simple, happy moments of life that meant the most to him. Those who knew him will remember his big heart, his quick wit, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His strength, kindness, and spirit will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest peacefully. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Friday, December 12th at St. Anthony Of Padua R.C. Church, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. A Private cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be Thursday, December 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. The family would tunnels to towers foundation (TtoT) at http://t2t.org. We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Rocky Point Funeral Home
He said before passing “I wish we met 40 years ago, imagine how much fun we would have had”. You will always be my brother. Tom Tilford
When Brian was born in 1961, I was 12 years old. Our mother’s were sisters so we spent every holiday together. Because of that, I watched Brian grow up and become such an amazing man. When he met Marianne, we knew he had found true happiness that was only surpassed by welcoming their son Brian into the family. Of my three Shuker cousins, Brian was the quietest, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have opinions. He chose his moments and that made them matter. His family loyalty was evident and it wasn’t surprising that he lived in his parents’ house, the one his father and grandfather built. His devotion to Marianne and David and Brian stood out, a model of what a good husband and parent ought to be. Not that he was perfect. After all, he and I both were products of parents and grandparents of vastly different child rearing practices. But we evolved. When I came to Long Island, Brian would always make time for me and I cherish those moments. Rest in peace and I’ll see you on the other side.
Mariann my condolences to you and your family. I only met Brian a little over a year ago at Oswego and we found a common bond in racing, I called him my encyclopedia for the Modified series he new every driver and car, I will miss going to the races and taking to him on the phone after a race. He will be missed by all who he has touched. See you at a race track on the other side my friend RIP. Murph. 🏁🏁
Brian gonna miss your ball busting. Rest in peace. 3 trees will be planted because i know you were a big fan of the king in #3 car

Q: What was one of the qualities of Brian that you loved most?
A: Brian was a great brother to Tommy they shared many of the same hobbies and they enjoyed each other’s company. I meet Brian when he was only 16 years old and we became family when I married his brother. Brian will be missed and we so deeply saddened by his passing. All our love to Marianne and family.

I had a thought about paying an unannounced visit to see all my old friends in Rocky Point this year (I have heard people say “they always come back”). I looked up Brian’s name to see if he hadn’t moved and learned he was gone. So sad as he was still young. I last saw Brian at my mother’s funeral in 2009.
My condolences to Marianne, his brothers Tommy and Billy, and their families.
Rest in Peace Brian.
I have so many great memories of Brian from the 70s and 80s. There was the time me, my brother Andrew, and Marc were at an Italian restaurant on Broadway when Brian came in and told us about a Challenger race car we should buy. It was a beat-up car known as the Dave Burkhart Piston Popper from Islip speedway. This was the moment we all went from fans who watched Nascar events on TV and as spectators at Riverhead Raceway to becoming Nascar circle track participants.
We all got our Nascar mechanics licenses so we could both drive and be allowed to work on the car in the pits. We put the roll cage from the piston popper into the shell of a parts car and installed a 318 powered drivetrain. After an incredible amount of work (including contributions from John C, Dwight) we were off to the races. After various crashes we fixed the car for next Friday night. Once a neighbor yelled at us for hammering out dents at 2AM.
I also shared the fun of slot car racing with Brian. We would go to some semi-professional tracks that others had in their homes and race our cars. That was a lot of fun. After racing we would stop at various bars for a drink and entertainment.
The bicentennial celebration was another great memory. Down at Nautilus beach with two quarter kegs and lots of fireworks. Those were the days. Great times and great friends.
