  1. oh Stephanie and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I met him at your engagement party and he was so happy to see you happy. I know he will be missed ever so much. Keeping you and your family in my prayers at this difficult time. It is so hard on the heart. Love Love

  2. We met Charlie and his sons when we moved here 38 years ago. What a wonderful person! He was so proud of his boys and his face would light up when he spoke about them. I will miss seeing him carrying his missal to church in the morning. Rest in Peace Charlie.

  3. So sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. I worked with his wife Barbara at the Smithtown Library. Such a sense of humor. Saw Charlie at morning Mass and recently missed him. Rest in peace Charlie with the love of your life, dear Barbara.

  4. How can I even put into words how much he will be missed……I am blessed to have had in in my life from child growing up into adulthood. He was kind, thoughtful, loving and one of a kind.

  5. I send sincere condolences to the family. Charlie was a great guy, my family and I took our cars to be serviced all the time, never worried about the quality of work as we knew it would be first class. Many years ago my car engine went on fire at Callahan’s Beach and had to be towed to the gas station. It needed to be fixed in time for my sister to drive back to college, Charlie made sure it was ready! He went above and beyond. Never stopped teasing me about it though. LOL

  6. Our sincere condolences to the Mattern family from Frank Schaefer’s family. Charlie and my dad were partners and great friends.

  7. Dad, words cannot express how much I will miss you. You were a man of integrity, honesty, and humility. You and mom taught us by example and you both exemplified what it meant to be a wonderful husband, wife and parents. I am only comforted by the fact that you and mom are together again, as you should be, for eternity. Rest in peace dad. John and I will miss you every single day.
