Born in:
Queens, NY
Resided in:
Smithtown, NY
Sadly we depart with our beloved Mother Claire Erikson Tufaro, beloved daughter of Kathleen Sheppard and Erick Erikson, devoted wife of Joseph and spectacular mother to Douglas, Frank, William and Joseph and sweetest grandmother to Michael and Allison.
She was our star ⭐️ and always elegant. and dignified. My Mother was always beautifully dressed when my Dad arrived home from work as they gave each other a kiss on the cheek and had the table set for dinner. We went to Church every Sunday then visited aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents of whom our Mom was beloved by all.
I never knew but my Mom taught Catechism for 25 years and worked at the St. Patrick’s Outreach for more than 10 years. She was modest to a fault and never told me.
As she didn’t have the opportunity at the time, Mom was determined to finish and earn her High School equivalency degree. With that, Mom went on to be an accountant for all Mid Island department stores. Mom worked part time every Christmas in order to buy us a piano and give us lessons and drove us all over Smithtown, so we could participate in activities. Our Mom and Dad were very proud of each one of our accomplishments such as piano recitals, swimming, gymnastics, Frank’s football and sports, plays etc. Mom basically give us a childhood she never had.
Our Mom and Dad always had company and knew how to prepare and plan for celebrations and honored each one of us by celebrating our Sacramental and life events, Baptisms, Confirmations, birthdays, holidays, my ordination in the Vatican and weddings, united in values, faith and love that knew no bounds. They traveled everywhere we were to visit us, Canada, Colorado, California and Italy. It seemed my Mom and Dad knew how to do everything and did it exceptionally well all of their 71 years of married life.
Our Mom and Dad raised 4 sons Douglas, Frank, William and Joseph and loved their grandchildren Michael and Allison. Our Mother will be forever in our hearts ❤️ until that day we are united again.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Gonna try to make it down Tuesday
Claire was a Gem. We are sad to hear of her passing. We miss seeing Claire & Joe on their bench and chatting with them . She was always excited to hear what the girls were up to with school and dance and the girls LOVED talking with them both . Heaven has gained an Angel!
Anyone who knew mom well knows that that she is in heaven. She lived her life with grace and poise yet was actually quite a fighter when it mattered. Fiercely determined to be good. She was our motivational teacher. With a fantastic sense of humor. Together with dad, an inspirational couple and truly perfect parents.
We miss her dearly.
So very sorry for your loss, our deepest condolences to your family.
May your mom rest in peace.
Dearest Claire may you Rest In Peace in Heaven
I so much enjoyed the chats we had
Loved you and will miss you
Diana

Our first meeting with Claire, was the day we moved in to our new house .As we had no light in the house I ran across the street and asked Claire if I could borrow some light bulbs. For the last 56 years you have shined your light as a friend and neighbor, with Beauty of Heart and
Soul.
Dear Joe, Douglas, Frank, Billy and Joseph, May the spirit of your beloved Wife and Mother, “Claire,” shine upon you always.
We send our Love to all of you.
Claire had such a kind soul. Ever so thoughtful and caring. I feel lucky to have had a part in her journey. She will be missed dearly but I know her spirit will always be present. My most sincere condolences to the family.
My deepest condolences to the whole family. Claire was always so thoughtful and welcoming. She always made me feel at home, whenever I accompanied Rick to outings in Long Island. My fondest memory was back in I think, 2007. for a special birthday party in Claire’s honor. She was radiant and gracious and truly touched by all the love her family and friends gave her on that lovely day. She will be truly missed.
