Danielle Nicole DeVerna
July 16, 1973 – June 5, 2026
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Danielle Nicole DeVerna, 52, of Hoboken, NJ after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Phyllis DeVerna; her brothers Paul, and his wife, Gail; Andrew, and his wife Lisa; John, and his wife, Lisa; nine nieces and nephews, Lucas, Aidan, Asher, Sarah, Harper, Katherine, Morgan, Courtney, and Ethan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Danielle received her undergraduate degree in Sports Marketing from Clemson University, where she also enjoyed her time on the rowing team. A lifelong Clemson Tiger, Danielle could often be found watching a game, cheering on her team, and wearing one of her many colorful baseball caps. During her career, she held positions at the University of Colorado, University of Arizona, and University of Virginia, before joining the National Basketball Association and working her way up to Associate Vice President, Brand & Identity Lead.
An avid traveler, Danielle embraced every opportunity to see the world. Her trips for both work and pleasure led her on journeys throughout the United States and abroad including Ireland, Croatia, Africa, China, Spain, Bali, Turkey, England, and Vietnam. She loved to hike and explore from big cities to small countrysides, and then sit and relax with a drink and good company.
With all of the places she travelled, Danielle’s favorite place to be was with her loved ones. She cherished lifelong connections, keeping in touch with friends and family from near and far and from every chapter of her life, from high school through her career at the NBA. She always made the effort to reach out and let you know she was thinking about you.
Danielle was naturally cheerful and optimistic, but she did have a wonderfully spirited competitive streak from her years as an athlete. She was very hard working and organized, and you could always count on her to come up with a plan. Danielle was an animated storyteller and loved a good joke.
Danielle will be remembered most for her big smile that could light up a room. She had a positive spirit and beautiful soul that could brighten anyone’s day, and the memories of Danielle will continue to light our lives and live within us all. To know Danielle was to love her.
In lieu of flowers and in keeping with her giving nature, the family requests donations to Cycle for Survival or your favorite charity in Danielle’s memory.
