  1. candleIf you knew my Uncle Dave, you knew how special of a person he was. He genuinely cared about others and always showed his love, support and thoughtfulness in every way possible. I’d get happy holiday texts, anniversary texts, birthday texts, even just exciting texts when the Rangers scored. I am still in disbelief that this is real. He was one of the good ones, putting everyone first before himself and his health. This was supposed to be his year. 2026. We thought we had more time. But God’s plans are greater than ours, and I can only imagine Grandma wrapping her arms around her baby boy the moment he arrived home. It’s the only thing giving me peace right now. This one just really hurts. I love you so much Uncle Dave. I’ll see you again one day and promise to “stay close.” It’s no surprise that USA won the gold yesterday. You brought that miracle on ice in Milano. 2️⃣6️⃣ 🏒

  2. candleDave was one of the kindest guys, we’ve ever met. He was also a lot of fun.Who would have thought that we would meet such wonderful people, as he and Alisa, through our sons becoming friends. I hope Matthew and Mark can find some solace in knowing they had one of the best dads out there. We are so very sorry.

  3. Ginny and Jeff Dolson.
Dave was married to my neice Alisa. He was the kindest and most caring young man. He was also a lot of fun. He had a great sense of humor and great taste in music. He loved his family more than anything. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. May he rest in peace 💗😢

  4. candleOur deepest condolences to the entire Milano and Gram families especially my cousins Alisa, Matthew and Mark 🙏 Dave was such a caring and wonderful member of our family and will be sorely missed 🙏

  5. candleMy cousin David was the youngest of the eight of us . Funny, smart and sweet (one of the good ones) our grandfather called him Davis , which he liked! My heart goes out to the Milano family, to Alisa , Matthew and Mark …. The cousins will not be the same without him! Rest in peace, Davis Love you

  6. candleSending my heartfelt condolences to the Milano and Gram family. I have nothing but fond memories of Dave, and he will be deeply missed.

  7. It’s hard to even put into words the heart break we are feeling. Keith and I LOVE our visits to long Island and spending time with uncle Joe and the cousins. David was easily one of the best people in our lives. David was so easy to talk to. He was always interested in what you were talking about. He loved his family so much and enjoyed spending time with people. We would text back and forth about sports, and life. He was always one of the first for holiday wishes. David and Alisa were so supportive during my cancer treatment sending gifts, texts and prayers. They celebrated the end of treatment with a 🔔 bell for me to ring and champagne 🍾. Our hearts are broken 💔 😢 . We pray that you are at peace . We love you Alisa, Matthew and Mark and pray for healing down the road. Rest David #26🐯

  8. candlewe were so lucky to have you in our lives. to have you as my uncle was an absolute honor and privilege. you will be missed more than words can explain. thank you for geniunely caring about not only myself and my life, but every single person around you. we love you so much, the only comfort i have is knowing you’re with grandma, baby michael, and your great niece laila. i’ll see you on the other side and i’ll make sure i make you proud in this life. love you always and forever uncle dave- until we meet again ❤️

  9. I only had the pleasure of meeting Dave a few times, but even then, it was clear how deeply he touched Alisa’s life. She always called him her best friend and spoke of his gentle way of comforting and calming her, the secret, she said, to their long and loving marriage. May his spirit wrap her in comfort and peace in this moment, as he always did in life.

  10. Our heartfelt condolences to the Milano family, Dave will be missed he was a true gentleman.
    Geraldine and Chuck Patterson

  11. candleMemories help us get through the sad times. In my memories I see Dave on my driveway playing hockey with my sons. My deepest sympathy to Alisa and the boys and the Milano and Gram families. Rest easy Dave.

  12. candle🙏🙏🙏May you rest in peace, knowing how much you were loved and thought of..May God open the gates of Heaven for you and sit you at his table!!! My deepest sympathy to your family and friends🙏🙏🙏🙏

  13. candleMy deepest condolences to David’s family and the entire Milano family. I remember David well, he was the sweetest young man. He will be so missed. May God wrap his loving arms around all who loved him.

  14. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. David, my little cousin, was indeed a beautiful soul who paved a path of love and kindness throughout his life. He loved his family fiercely and never missed an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the people in his life or sympathize with the hardships as he did with my sister and I when we navigated our cancer treatments. Aside from the irreplaceable memories that I have on ‘vacation’ with my cousins in Long Island as a kid, my more recent memories were of David teasing me over the NY Giants (easy target!) and the success of Tom Brady who he knew I despised 🙄.
Gregg and I are heartbroken that you were called home too soon. 💔
David, as you watch over your family and friends from the beauty of heaven, help us find comfort with the love you engraved on our hearts that will remain with us forever. 🙏💝 Rest in Peace 2 6

  15. Alisa is my husband’s niece. Dave became a beloved nephew. Dave had the special gift of showing people he cared about them, and any time spent with him was a pleasure. His loss is heartbreaking, but precious memories will always keep him close to our hearts. Prayers for his devoted family during this difficult time. 🙏💙💔

  16. candleDuring our senior year of high school, Alisa started working at Jeffrey’s. Not long after, she began telling me about this guy named Dave who worked there too — how he would find little reasons to talk to her. I still remember when she said, “I think he likes me.” At first they were just friends. Then came their first date. And before long, they were officially a couple and we were all going to the prom together. What seemed like a sweet high school romance quietly became something extraordinary. Without even realizing it, I was witnessing the beginning of an incredible love story.

My sweet, dear friend, Alisa — I wish there were words strong enough to ease even a fraction of your pain. My heart is broken for you. I hope you feel surrounded by the love of everyone who has witnessed the beautiful life you and Dave created. His love is woven into Matthew and Mark, which will always remain. I will continue to hold you all close in my heart.

Rest in peace, Dave. Thank you for loving Alisa and being her best friend. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. And I know it’s not a coincidence that Team USA won their gold in “Milan”.

  17. candleMy first memories of Dave are playing hockey in front of my cousin’s house on Longhorn Lane in the late 70’s. True to their character, Dave and his brother Mike were always so encouraging and positive as I learned to play with the older kids. Years later I would play with and against Dave in Dek hockey and Thursday night pickup games at Nassakaeg; he was a fantastic teammate and a tough opponent. He seemed to always score big goals. I joked that he was Bobby Nystrom after he scored several overtime goals, including at least one that won a championship (he took it as a compliment even though he was a Ranger fan). Dave was an even better person though, always checking in, texting during holidays and seeing how I was doing after a tough loss or complementing after a big win. He set up get-togethers with friends at Benchwarmer’s and we were recently talking about meeting up again soon. Dave was a true gem who will be greatly missed by all…the world needs more like him. Rest in peace, good friend…#26 forever!

  18. candleDave was always so friendly and helpful, he truly made my job easier with the kindness and willingness to lend a hand. I am so grateful to have known him. My sincere condolences to the family.

  19. I’m so sorry to hear this news. We have been friends since we were kids. So many laughs and so much hockey. Not a holiday goes by without a text from you. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family now.

  20. I remember as teenagers sitting on the curb in the summer under the streetlights on Longhorn Lane East Setauket with my cousins and brothers and Dave and Mike.
There were always hockey games in the street all day long no matter what.

    The good old days

Even though I haven’t seen Dave and Mike in years I never forgot those great memories

    Rest in eternal peace Dave

    My condolences to your family

  21. candleAlisa,

There is no message I can send to take away what you and the “boys” are feeling. I wish there was.

However, please know my thoughts are with you all. May the memories of the time you had together, in time, bring you the comfort you need.

I am so sorry I was not able to be there for you this evening.

    With much love and strength,
    Melissa ODonnell

  22. candleJohn and I are so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. What a wonderful man. We always enjoyed hanging out with Alisa and Dave whether it was at school events or parties. Dave will be missed by many. We were away when we heard , I lit a candle for Dave and his family in Vienna.

  23. David was my Godson. Although he is now with my sister, his mom, in heaven, I am grieving a young, beautiful life taken too soon. Know that I am praying for all of you and love you very much. – Uncle Andy

  24. It’s so difficult to find the right words to ease the pain and sadness that Alisa, Matthew and Mark are going through right now. Everyone that was lucky enough to know Dave all mention what a kind person he was. That is one of the first thoughts that come to mind in describing him and how much he loved Alisa and the boys. Dave was a stranger to no one and made you feel so welcomed. A bright light has gone out with his passing. Sending Alisa, Matthew and Mark all of our love during such a heartbreaking time. Mary, Patrick and Matthew Buscemi

  25. I was saddened to hear of Dave Milano’s passing. Dave was one of the great ones, always so welcoming and smiling. While I did not keep in touch with Dave, I was recently told of his passing. We went to high school together. Believe it or not, Dave was one of the bigger guys. Always in shape and always with a smile on his face.

I’m certain I can speak for the entire Ward Melville class of 1985. Dave was one of the great ones. I’m very sorry for your loss. Heaven just added another solid one and a huge Rangers and Yankees fan. Rest in peace, Milano.
