Douglas Michael Sneider, 69, of Nesconset, NY, passed away December 21st, 2024. Doug was known for his loving, caring, and hard-working nature. He was a leader in the community and was loved by many. Born on March 11th, 1955, in Queens, NY, he was the son of William and Mildred Sneider.

Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, his three sons, Michael, Matthew, and Andrew, their spouses Daveda and Derek, two grandchildren Justin and Marissa, his two “girls”, Kona and Brooklyn, as well as his two brothers, William and Richard, his sister, Kathy, and their spouses Ellen, Laura, and Julie. Douglas was an active member of his community. He was a volunteer firefighter for 33 years with the honor of serving as Chief of the Nesconset Fire Department. Doug was also Vice Commodore of the Smithtown Yacht club and an active member of the Romeo club.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27th, at Branch Funeral home, 190 E Main St, Smithtown, NY 11787, with Firematic services at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28th, at Parish of the Holy Cross, 95 Nichols Rd, Nesconset, NY 11767. The funeral service will be followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation are encouraged as Doug was involved in the clean-up at 9-11 and passionate about supporting them.
