Eileen Theresa Gulino, 68 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones praying over her at VNS Hospice House in Northport, NY on March 27, 2021. Eileen was born October 27, 1952, to Joseph and Charlotte Miller (neé McQuillan). Eileen was the third oldest child, her brother Joseph being the oldest along with her sadly predeceased older sister Charlotte and younger brother Michael.

Eileen is survived by her former spouse Stephen Gulino, and her three sons: Stephen and his wife Kristi, Joseph and his wife Nicole, and Brian. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Lucas, Theresa, Ava, Mia, and Siena. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she frequently said “happiness is” whenever her grandchildren were present, mentioned, or referenced.

Eileen was a  caregiver by nature, and this characteristic was evidenced both through her life’s work as a nurse and the way she raised her three sons.  Her selflessness was as obvious and apparent to those who she just met as it was to those who knew her all her life.  She never cut corners, invested her time to do things right, took pride in everything she did and went the extra mile to make sure that those around her were well cared for and comfortable.  She adored the Blessed Mother, was a true believer in God and the teachings of Jesus Christ, an active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua’s RC Church in Rocky Point for over 40 years, and a defender of both her children and the faith that she instilled in them.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed all that Long Island had to offer.  More specifically, the beaches, the water, the farm stands, and camping with her family and friends. She cherished the time she had with those she loved and was a pure soul.  She was an excellent cook, an experienced sewer, and the first person to call if you or your children had a cut, scrape, or bruise.

Heaven gained a precious and beautiful angel this week. While she fought to overcome her illnesses with every ounce of her being, she entered the kingdom of God with the confidence and fearlessness only possible for those with true faith.  Her radiant soul and the memories we share will never be forgotten.

On Eagles Wings

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,

Who abide in His shadow for life,

Say to the Lord, “My Refuge,

My Rock in Whom I trust.”

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun,

And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night,

Nor the arrow that flies by day,

Though thousands fall about you,

Near you, it shall not come.

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun,

And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

For to His angels, He’s given a command,

To guard you in all of your ways,

Upon their hands, they will bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun,

And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
