Emil was a part of our family before Wes & Lisa were married. Chuck & I had immediate connection with Emil & Judy. And we became friends even without our kids. We will always remember Emil’s love for Judy & his children and grandchildren.. we had a lot of trips together and a lot of laughs. We will miss him terribly. May you rest in peace.

Emilio “Emil” Michael Cassano, 81, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Emil was born on October 13, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York.
Emil grew up a proud New York Italian, spending many days at Ebbets Field cheering on his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers and cruising the streets of Park Slope where he met the love of his life, Judy. He attended Brooklyn Tech High School and later went on to City College of New York where he studied Chemistry. After retiring from a successful career in the tobacco industry, Emil transitioned to the financial industry. He loved following the markets and was actively involved until his last days.
If there was one thing everyone knew about Emil, it was his love for sports. He never missed a NY Giants, NY Mets or NY Islanders game. If he wasn’t watching sports, Emil was golfing in his earlier years, or he was reading any history book he could get his hands on. As a tremendous James Bond fan, Emil could recite all the dialog from most of 007’s movies. And like his spy hero, Emil loved to travel, especially to European countries. He knew the best way to get to know each country and its people was by immersing in their cultures and eating the local food.
Emil was a “nudge” and loved to joke around with his children, grandchildren, and just about anyone. Most of all, Emil was passionate about family. He was a dedicated husband and father who made it his top mission to provide a good life for his family. Emil was happily married to his wife, Judy, for 57 years. In all the ups and downs of life, they could always count on each other. Emil also had a knack for making friends – while living in New York, Virginia, and Florida – with neighbors, service workers, and just about anyone he spoke with. He will be greatly missed by all of them.
Emil is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Cassano and Ida Cassano, and his son, Paul Cassano. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Cassano, daughter Lisa Heptinstall (husband Wes Heptinstall), sister, Vincenza Lombardi, daughter-in-law, Debra Cassano and 4 cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline Cassano, Anthony Cassano, Julianna Heptinstall and Gabriella Heptinstall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
