Erla Mae Miller, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at her place of residence, The Bristal, Mount Sinai, New York. She was born May 30, 1932 to John Wolfgang Schmidt and Eva Datt Schmidt. She graduated f in June of 1950 from Butler High School in Butler, Pennsylvania. She married Charles M. Miller on June 11, 1955, in Saxonburg, PA. She had a 35 year career in banking, starting as a bank teller for Mellon Bank in Butler, PA and then Suffolk County Federal Savings & Loan and eventually becoming Vice-President of Long Island Savings Bank, Middle Island, NY branch. Erla retired in 1994 when she and Charles moved to the Leisure Knoll community in Ridge, N.Y. Erla lived life to her fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with her beloved family; enjoying time with friends in the Leisure Knoll Community whether it was playing bridge or Mahjong, or enjoying a nice lunch, occasionally with a glass of Merlot. She also enjoyed antiquing, redecorating her home, completing crossword puzzles and playing scramble and other games. Erla had a special love for dachshunds and owned four throughout her life, and is survived by Rudy, her cherished companion in her later years.

Erla is predeceased by Charles, her husband of 62 years, her three sisters Velma, Marion, and Elizabeth (Betty), and her three brothers Kenneth, Harry, and Lyle. She is survived by her children, Charles Miller Jr and his partner Allison Lafroscia, Christopher Miller and his wife Arlene and Craig Miller and his partner Donna Hyland. In addition, Erla is survived by her grandchildren, Andrew Miller and his wife Emily, Matthew Miller, Lauren Miller and Ethan Miller. Her final resting place will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY, alongside her husband Charles.
