For the past fifteen years, I have seen my friend Howie once a year—at tax time! Who likes to visit their tax preparer? I always did. I looked forward to that visit because it was a chance to catch up and have some good laughs with a special person. He had a big heart and was such a vital presence, and I can’t believe he’s gone.

Howie love his family. He danced through life with a joke for every occasion. He was a force of nature. He will be missed.

I have known Alysa, his daughter for over ten years. She is an exceptional person in every way. To know her is an absolute blessing and I had to honor her Dad because he definitely played an important role in her life and therefore, he too must have been a rare and precious gem. May those that loved him and those he loved find peace and comfort through sweet memories. Prayers and love to Alysa and his lovely family.

Howie was such a kind & generous person. A wonderful friend, especially to my husband, Cary Smolen. He also was a fantastic, creative accountant. He will be greatly missed.
