Jay R. Oher, of Miller Place, NY , who was a dedicated family man, extraordinarily hardworking individual, avid model train collector, lover of classic race cars, a coin collector, and an avid fisherman passed away at the age of 62, surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Jay was born in Queens, New York, on May 31st, 1960, to proud parents, David and Selma Oher. He grew up in Brooklyn, where he developed a lifelong passion for American Flyer trains and classic race cars, specifically 1970 Dodge Challengers. Jay would spend countless hours working on his own 1970 Challenger and collecting American Flyer trains. These hobbies brought him great joy throughout his life.
Jay was also a hardworking and dedicated individual who pursued his passion for accounting. He earned his Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant.
While attending College he worked as a Transit Police Officer in District 30. He continued his career as a Confidential Investigator where he met his wife Susan.
Jay went on to successfully build his own accounting firm.
Jay loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, his two children, Michael and Christina, his mother Selma, and the family cat Princess, all of whom he loved very much.
Jay will be remembered as a loving husband, father, accountant, and friend whose legacy will live on through the memories he leaves behind.
His kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and his passions will be greatly missed.
Services will be held in Jay’s honor on Sunday, April 2nd, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Branch Funeral Home of Miller Place, located at 551 NY-25A, Miller Place, NY 11764
