Johanna Brown, age 92, of Ridge died Sunday, April 2, 2017. Johanna was born March 21, 1925 in Germany. She is the daughter of the late Bruno and Elizabeth Assmann . She was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Brown. She is survived by two daughters: Suzanne Byrne of Manorville, NY and Lisa Calandra of Foral Park, NY, and three sons: Jeffrey Brown of Manhasset Hills, NY, Thomas McMahon of East Hampton, NY and Gary Brown of Pine Plains, NY. She also has 13 Grandchildren 7 Great Grandchildren. Johanna is also survived by her sister, Helen Braun of Ridge. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11:00 am on Friday, April 7 at St. Mark's RC Church, 105 Randall Road, Shoreham, NY. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton on Friday, April 7. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 5 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. I’m so sorry to hear about Jo. She was a lovely person, and I always looked forward to her (and Dick’s) visits to Massachusetts and the farm in Connecticut. She had the most incredible and infectious laugh and was always a joy to be around. I’m glad I had the opportunity to visit with her last year.

So sorry to hear about Johanna. I have lots of great memories of her, mostly about her unfailing good humor. My father always said they were like brother and sister growing up.
