John M. Walters passed away suddenly at the age of 69. John, or Johnny to his family, was a friendly and fun-loving person with many friends – friendships that lasted many decades.

John is survived by his Aunt Janice (Janice Sibilia), and his cousins Diane Moebus and husband Roy, Laura Mattioli and husband Joe, and Michael Russo. John is also survived by his first cousins once removed Richard Moebus, Michelle Moebus McCrary, Carmello Mattioli, Joey Mattioli, and Nicholas Russo. John’s parents, Jack and Rose Walters, predeceased him. John’s Uncle Nick (Nicholas Russo) and his wife (Aunt Joan), as well as his Aunt Janice’s husband (Uncle Joe) also predeceased John.

John was born on June 14, 1954. He grew up in Roosevelt, New York, moved to Wantagh and then settled in East Islip where he resided until his death. John graduated from St John’s University in Queens. After graduation, John had a successful career in contracts negotiation and contracts management which started in Sperry Corporation (Unisys Defense Systems, Lockheed Martin) and retiring from International Business Machines (IBM).

John will be remembered to us all as someone who loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. To his family, Johnny was always there for the holidays and was known for his interesting and amusing conversation. To his friends, he will be remembered for his adventurousness, his friendship, and his fondness for a good time.
