Josef Karl Ropertz, age 79, of Sound Beach, NY died Friday, January 24, 2014. Born February 16, 1934 in Germany, he was the son of the late Clements and the late Maria (Vogels) Ropertz. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1958. He was employed by Union 1199 Hospital Workers, NY as Plasterer. He is survived by His loving nieces, Heidi Boland (John) of Nanuet, NY, Mary Dodge (Steven) of Pearl River, NY, Ellen Cleary (Thomas) of Suffern, NY and Barbara Brown (Al) of Westwood, NJ. He was predeceased by his beloved Wife, Joyce Meldreth Haylock Ropertz, and Brother, Henry Ropertz. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 28 at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. Burial will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton. Calling hours will be Monday, January 27 from 3PM - 7PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY.
