Joseph Rubino 79 of Saint James passed away on July 22,2023. Joey was born in Copiague NY on November 16, 1943 to the late Joseph and Anna (Massaro) Rubino. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Kathleen (Alimonte) , his two children Kathleen Hurski (Billy) and Jennifer Walling and his six grandchildren, Billy and Rebecca Hurski, Bryce, Brooke, Brody and Bradyn Walling. His sister JoAnn Sala and his brother the late James Rubino. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Joey was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. Many will remember his quick wit and the willingness to help anyone be it building, towing, or fixing he was there. Joey had many interests and hobbies, car racing in his younger days at the Islip Speedway, learning to fly starting out in a piper-cub then a Cessna 150. He enjoyed oldies music, hunting bears in Canada or deer in Upstate NY. Boating was his favorite. Crabbing, fishing or just relaxing at Robert Moses on his boat the “Grasshopper”. Above all else he was a cherished husband, father, and Poppy. Loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We were so very sorry and saddened to hear of Joey’s passing. We have very fond memories of our boating days together. It was always a pleasure to see Joey and Cathy. Our hearts go out to Cathy and the family. May he rest in peace.
Thank you ❤️❤️
Sending our love and support to you all.
Sixty plus years in friendship , from teen double dating to sitting poolside in retirement.. Yes, Joey finally could sit still when we played competitive card game of Spades .Who knew it would take all those years to find that out..
He was a man who was always there for his family, friends and their children.. never did he “hem or haw” as so many others . As you were saying what the problem was, you could hear the truck starting and tools being thrown around. Yelling for Kathy to jump in. Always his faithful sidekick.
Monetary value meant nothing to Joey. He did it all for the love he had for all of us. Long Island, Upstate NY, even to Connecticut. Never wanting anything or expecting something in return. So many memories of being on the Great South Bay in his first wood boat as teens, to later years on the Grasshopper..
Will miss you our dear friend., blessed to have had you in our lives.. ❤️
We love you aunt Dottie and uncle Greg ❤️❤️❤️thank you again ❤️❤️
