Josephine
Ewald Beutel scooped Josephine away
From Australia to the USA.
On his tour of duty they did meet
And a year later, she began quite a feat.
She sailed the Pacific – on a transport ship
On a train from California-to-New York,
For love, made the trip.
They married and settled in old Woodside
A different world for a Cairns country bride.
Persistent she was, making new friends
Eventually, a life in New York would blend.
In a few years, the family grew
First came Peter and Edward made two.
They moved to Flushing, a new home they would get
Enough space for the family, and a dog named Jet.
Ever the pioneers, to Rocky Point, they came
Built a summer home and staked their claim.
Up a hill, to Shell Road, they made their way
Cleared a path to the beach, found a boat for play.
Next to Australia, Long Island fishing was best
Josephine created many a fine fest.
Shucking clams by the seashore and grilling some fish
The picnics she made would fulfill every wish.
Her garden is bountiful
Vegetables and flowers on display
A place where Teresa found love
And where Sheba can play.
A true inspiration to those she's met
She's also guardian angel to U.S. war vets.
Shopping's a hobby; she's often at Kohl's.
Like Santa at Christmas
Finding gifts for needy souls.
Apple walnut coffee cake
with crunchy crumbs on top.
Baking up her special treats
They'll make your taste buds pop.
Loving wife, mom and grandma to the boys.
And if her friend you're fortunate to be
You'll share in many joys.
Whether you may know her as Giuseppina, Josie, Josephine, Jo, Mrs. Beutel or Mrs. B. It's certain that in our hearts she will also be. By M. Busso

She will always be in my fond memory, Spending holidays together and barbecues at the house with her fresh grown tomatoes was a treat.
She will be missed.
Our deepest sympathies to the family on the passing of this wonderful woman. She was an angel and we loved her.
Dear Ed and Teresa,
As my neighbor, Josephine was always a ray of sunshine. I’ll always remember her smiling, sharing childhood stories and gardening. May she now be free to walk barefoot through the fields.
My deepest sympathy to all.
Mrs Beutel was part of that wonderful WW2 generation that gave us so much, there is no doubt they are America’s finest generation. I was lucky enough to have been raised by that generation. They taught us to have respect, to be honest, to help each other, to love your country, to be thankful for those that fought to keep us free, and to know that anything was possible in life if you kept those principles.
Mrs Beutel was my mothers friend and sister at the VFW. They had so much in common from being married to WW2 vets, to being pioneers in Rocky Point , to raising their families , to enjoying life at Broadway beach, the VFW, and the importance of always being there for family, neighbors , and friends.
Thank you Mrs Beutel for such a life well lived, a little piece of Rocky Point left us when you did, but your legacy goes on in your son Eddie, your grandchildren, and all the people that were lucky enough to have known you.
