Joy C. Nazarian, age 83,of Rocky Point, New York passed suddenly on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Joy was born July 10, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Dorchester. She is from a family of twelve. Family was everything to her. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Theresa (York) Shiner. She worked as an accountant for Axel Electronics in Richmond Hill, then went on to work as a Pension Coordinator for The Operating Engineers Union Local 14/14B in Flushing, New York where she worked for over 20 years and reluctantly retired from the Union in 2016. She is survived by her loving daughter, Robin Cosgrove of Rocky Point, New York, three cherished grandchildren, Kristina (James) Savino, Stephanie Zecca-Beeker, Samantha (Kevin) Murphy, and six precious great grandchildren, Julianna Beeker, Nicolette Murphy, Sonia Savino, Giovanni Rienzie, Gabriella Murphy, and Rosaria Savino. When her grandchildren and great grandchildren came along, they were the hot fudge and cherry on her coffee sundae. They became her reason for living. She was a voracious reader and her favorite color was yellow. She was proud of her Irish Catholic Heritage. Joy was a visible, active, devout member of Saint Helens Church in Howard Beach and in their choir for over 20+ years. She was active in her Howard Beach Community, helping others in many capacities, always as a servant to others. She was selfless. She was Love Personified! Guestbook

  1. Joy you taught me a lot and I will miss you dearly. You were always full of life and fun. Our court will not be the same. You touched so many lives.

  2. I am so happy and honored to have met you. You loved to make a “Joyful “ noise singing at the senior center. Always welcoming everyone with your beautiful smile and warm hugs. I will miss speaking with you and sharing our stories. Until we meet again… love you.

  3. I was blessed to have you as a family member, as a child you always tried to make me feel good. It was unfortunate you married Harry R. Nazarian aka Sonny, Chi Chi, Rocko, on and on HOWEVER, we can enjoy the amazing daughter you were so proud of and all your incredible grand children.
Loved our conversations and you are the last of
“ the “ group. You embraced the Catholic Church and had solid beliefs in God, you will be in peace!
No question my dear you leave a huge void in the lives of all who loved you.
