Karen M. Helmeyer, age 65, of Shirley died Saturday, July 7, 2018 NY. Karen was born August 21, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. She is the daughter of the late Paul and the late Eveyln (Detzel) Stecher. She is survived by her husband: Douglas Helmeyer , two daughters: Marie Caffray of Middle Village, NY and Jennifer Wagner of Henderson, NV, and two sons: Daniel Renna of Matamoras, PA and Alfonso Renna of Shirley, NY. She also has eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great grandchild on the way. The religious services will be held 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 12 at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. A private cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY. Dear Marie, Jenn and families, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. There are no words to ease the pain. Losing a parent unexpectedly or at any time is horrible and my heart breaks for you all. When it happens you feel as if you are the only person who has ever dealt with such heartbreaking pain and you wonder how you will go on……you somehow do, missing them, talking to them and thinking of them what seems to be a hundred times a day. I know what a close relationship you all had and how special your mom was. There will be signs that your mom is still with you and she always will be.
