On the evening of Monday, February 12, 2024, Kathleen Bartone, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away. Kathleen was born on June 17, 1936, in Jackson Heights, Queens. Her family moved to Valley Stream where she attended Valley Stream Central High School and met the love of her life, Arthur. Arthur and Kathleen were married on January 26, 1957, and raised four children. Kathleen worked for the Bellmore School District for many years. She began her career as a secretary to the director of Special Education and then worked for the Superintendent of Schools until her retirement in 1998. Kathleen loved to travel and learn about different cultures. Her love of history led her to volunteer at the Conklin House in Huntington, where she gave tours to school children. Kathleen had a variety of interests and joined clubs and organizations to pursue them. She gained many friendships and has maintained them throughout the years. Kathleen was blessed with nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who gave her so much happiness. She was devoted to her family and was always the life of the party. While spending time with Kathleen, there was never a lull in the conversation as she would always keep it going. She loved to talk! The world will not be the same without Kathleen but her warmth, love, and kindness will live on forever.

We are devastated.
I’m shocked and saddened to hear this news. I was fortunate to get to know Kathy through my Mom and their Monday card group. Kathy was full of life; so lovely, engaging and always with a smile and kind word. She will be missed.
What a legacy Kathy left behind, for all who had the honor and privilege to have her be a part of their lives, as they will smile and say “ I am so blessed to have known you” .
I will miss you terribly..
We miss you.
Gaye, Jeanne and Cathy
Kathy was such a kind person. She will be missed.
